VERSE OF THE NIGHT
And this I do for the gospel's sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you.
-- 1 Corinthians 9:23
KJV Holy Bible

DEVOTION
"Jesus wants us to use our gifts to bless others. I saw this firsthand when I visited a young woman in need. She asked me to sing and read the Bible to her. She said she felt Jesus' love and wanted to accept Him as her Savior. We can use our gifts to serve others, not for our own gain, but for the gospel."

PRAYER
Dear Jesus, we are so grateful for the chances to serve You and to demonstrate Your love to others. We thank You for these blessings. Amen.

VERSE
Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me. Isaiah 6:8

DEVOTION
God is greater than our understanding. He calls us to serve Him and carry out His will. Remember His love and grace, and seek Him in prayer. Are you ready to answer His call?

PRAYER
Father God, forgive us for not always recognizing You as the highest power in our lives. Help us to stay open to Your call and to be in the right place to hear it. Remind us of all You have done for us, so that You will always be the Lord of our lives. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

VERSE
James 5:16 (KJV) Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

INSPIRATION
Can you think of the last time that you sinned? Sometimes it is hard to remember, but I imagine that some moment of weakness will come into your mind. What did you do after sinning? More importantly, what could you have done differently? James explains what should be done and what you hopefully do: confess your sins and pray for each other. I feel a tremendous sense of relief after I confess to a wrongdoing. Bottling it in never allows for the release of the negative energy and emotions. Let it out, ask for forgiveness, and pray for each other.

PRAYER
Forgive me Father for I have sinned. I have been gluttonous, lustful, greedy, proud, filled with sorrow, wrathful, vain, and slothful. I have condemned others without even examining myself. I have not always loved my enemies nor loved my neighbors as myself. I can do better and must do better. Forgive me, O Lord, and make me whole! I pray that You strengthen me this day and all days, serving as my refuge against temptation. Deliver me from evil, for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

VERSE

Psalms 119:105 (KJV) Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

INSPIRATION

Just as everyone on earth starts from different positions in life, so too our spiritual journey towards the Lord will follow different paths for which there is no set map. There is rather, only the light of the word, and the guidance of the church, but it is still ultimately up to us to take those steps and use what we receive personally, practically, and habitually.

PRAYER

I pray for Your guidance and light, my Lord, for I am but a lamb in the wilderness without you. When darkness settles down upon me, may you light a path to your loving embrace. When darkness obscures my way, fill my soul with the courage to trust in Your Holy word. For Your Testament is the lamp upon my feet, whose flames consume all darkness. Hosanna in the Highest, Amen.

VERSE
Hebrews 10:39 (KJV) But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.

INSPIRATION
The very nature of freedom poses a choice for us. God, in giving us freedom, in being our Creator and endowing us with individual will, granted us thus simultaneously a choice –choose Him and give thanks, so that you may live a life in His truth, or deny him and invite perdition and darkness. Bring this message to those who do not yet praise His name, and let them know they have been granted the gift of freedom to choose, but let them know that this choice is of vital importance. For its ultimate consequence is to affect one's freedom in the afterlife, in either granting us entry into the eternal bliss of Heaven, or confinement in the fire.

PRAYER
Lord Almighty, my Creator and Father, praise and glory be to Your mercy and love in granting us the gift of choosing Your love. Give me strength as I invite those who do not yet sing Your name to join in Your family. Grant them the gift and blessings of Your sweet and everlasting life. Amen.

Verse

Proverbs 15:4 (KJV) A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit.

Inspiration

Words have extraordinary power. It can crush, it can heal, it can hurt, it can conceal. We have this power imbued to us by God, in order to do His word. Let us use it to spread His good word and truth, and to ask for His guidance!

Prayer

Lord God, my Heavenly Father, I speak Your name, and praise Your glory. Send me Your truth to share within the world. I thank you for giving me this voice, and ask You to bless me, Your humble servant, in speaking Your name. Hosanna in the highest. Amen.

(VERSE)
Psalms 73:25-26 (KJV) Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee.
My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.

(INSPIRATION)
“None upon earth that I desire beside thee.” Oh, if only it were this easy! The sins of this world are so tempting, but as explained later in this Psalm, “flesh and heart faileth.” The temptations of earth are fleeting and finite, but seek God’s love and it will be infinite.

(PRAYER)
I shall love ye forever and ever O Lord! Hark! The angels in heaven sing Your praises and people of earth shall do the same. I am but one meek voice, but united with Your strength I know that anything is possible, my all-powerful and knowing God! Bless this day and all of my days on the earth so that I may help others to know You and know You better upon my judgment day, Amen.

(VERSE)
Galatians 5:1 (KJV) Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bo***ge.

(INSPIRATION)
We are indeed sinful, and we cannot save ourselves or deliver ourselves from our wickedness. We deserve death and punishment for our evil. So as Paul asked, “Who will deliver me from this body of death?” Here is the answer: Jesus Christ can deliver us from the body of death! Jesus can set us free from the bo***ge of sin that entangles us! And once he sets us free, we are free forever.

(PRAYER)
LORD, You sent Your son so that I could be free. We sinned; we screwed up, but You still cared for us. You made a way for us. It boggles my mind how much You care for us – for me. Deliver me through Your son. Set me free of my sin and transgressions. I come to You in the name of Jesus, who has covered and washed me. Amen.

((THE FEAR OF GOD IS TO HATE EVIL))

(WISDOM IS NOT PROUD BUT HUMBLE)

(VERSE)
Proverbs 8:12-14 (KJV) I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions.
The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.
Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength.

(INSPIRATION)
Wisdom! How do you think of wisdom? In some cultures, wisdom is considered the gift of the aged. Others think of the wisdom of children. We talk about “street smarts.” We use the expression, “Penny wise and pound foolish.” Jesus spoke of the wisdom of the simple. So what does this passage from Proverbs tell us about wisdom? First it is placed securely in prudence. Knowledge, discretion, counsel and understanding are included. What is not part of wisdom is pride, arrogance, evil and a “perverse” mouth. Wisdom doesn’t make snap decisions or judgments. Wisdom is not proud but humble. The wise person recognizes wisdom in others and is willing to learn from them. Some of the wisest people that I have known were not the best educated, but had a thirst for knowledge that never stopped as they grew older. I have spoken with teachers who knew that there were times when their students had as much to teach them as they had to teach their students. The wise person listens. Have you ever been in a conversation with someone who only wants to talk about themselves, and who interrupts others constantly? These are people who have no interest in learning from others. There is no one who has all the knowledge and the wise person will continue to listen and learn from others. I know people who think that if you use big words, you will sound intelligent. I have found that people who do this often use words that are inappropriate for the situation. I also worked with a man who had a Doctoral Degree and was so well respected that the college he worked for kept him on as a consultant long after he retired. This man loved God and could explain the Scriptures to the well-educated and also to those who had no education. I considered him one of the wisest people I have known.

(PRAYER)
Almighty and all_knowing God, you alone have all the wisdom. Teach us to listen and learn from you and your Son, Jesus Christ, so that we will continue to grow in wisdom and holiness. Amen

(VERSE)
Matthew 7:12 (KJV) Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

(INSPIRATION)
To love God and others and to do to others what we would wish for them to do to us is the sum of the Law and the Prophets, which are the two great sections of the Old Testament. If we loved others as much as we love ourselves, we would be instantly changed. If men followed this "Golden Rule" or our Lord, society would immediately be much safer and far more friendly.

(PRAYER)
Teach us, Lord, to follow the Golden Rule, to do to others what we would desire to be done to us. Show us where we have failed to do this, Lord, and help us to correct our behavior and our attitude. Destroy in us sinful self-love and let love for you and others reign in its place. Amen
