Subject: A Call to Prayer, Peaceful Participation, and Responsible Conductโ2026 General Elections
Grace and peace to you from God our Father and our Lord Jesus Christ.
As Zambia prepares for the General Elections scheduled for 13th August 2026, the RCZ
Synod Leadership calls upon all members, congregations, and other church entities to
devote themselves to prayer for our nation before, during, and after the elections. As a
Church, we recognize our biblical responsibility to seek God's guidance, peace, and
wisdom for our nation during this important democratic process and to encourage all
members to contribute towards peaceful, free, fair, and credible elections.
In this regard, all RCZ congregations are urged to dedicate time during their Sunday and
midweek services to pray specifically for:
โข Peace and stability in Zambia before, during, and after the elections;
โข God's guidance for all voters, election officials, candidates, and political leaders;
โข Free, fair, transparent, and credible elections;
โข The safety and security of all citizens;
โข National unity and reconciliation regardless of political affiliations;
โข Respect for democratic processes throughout the electoral period; and
โข A spirit of acceptance of the outcome of the elections and commitment to
maintaining peace regardless of the results.
Sunday, 9th August 2026, being the Sunday immediately preceding the elections, should
be observed across all RCZ congregations as a special day of prayer for Zambia.
This call to prayer is not limited to congregational gatherings alone. Individual members
and families are encouraged to do the same.
The RCZ Synod Leadership further encourages all its members to be ambassadors of
peace within their communities and spheres of influence. Members are urged to avoid
violence, inflammatory language, hate speech, provocation, intimidation, misinformation,
and any conduct that may threaten national harmony.
Furthermore, all eligible RCZ members are encouraged to exercise their constitutional
and civic right by participating peacefully in the electoral process and casting their vote
on 13th August 2026. Let us reject voter apathy and engage responsibly in shaping the
future of our nation.
As a Church, we affirm that while electoral contests may produce different outcomes,
Zambia remains our shared homeland, and our unity as a people must transcend political
differences.
May God bless the Reformed Church in Zambia.
May God bless the Republic of Zambia and grant her lasting peace.
