VERSE
Joshua 4:24 (KJV) That all the people of the earth might know the hand of the LORD, that it is mighty: that ye might fear the LORD your God for ever.

INSPIRATION
Contextually, this passage refers to God's promised people, who were lead through the River Jordan unto Israel. Though these may have been His chosen people, there still existed many enemies, jealous and willfully ignorant of God’s message. It was these people, who could not out of their own arrogance put down their false idols who ended up quaking with fear at God's power. It was only those, the faithful, who remained unafraid.

PRAYER
God on high, God Almighty! I hear Your name but am not afraid, for I know with belief in You on my side, I am one of Your chooosing. I vow from hereon to give You reverence as often as possible, to worship no false gods or idols, but only You. For nothing else contains Your power, Your might, and Your glory. Let me not give in to those who slander Your name, but instead make me stronger, to defend and do Your will as is my duty. God on high, God Almighty, Hallelujah!

VERSE
Zephaniah 3:17 (KJV) The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.

INSPIRATION
This verse is an example of God’s promises that have never expired. God has always promised to be with us – even before we became faithful to Him. God’s love runs deep for his children – the lost and the found. He has chosen to remain with us until the last day and He does not intend on changing that. If you ever find yourself questioning whether God is with you or not, take heart and know this truth: God will always be with you. Always.

PRAYER
Dear God, I just want to thank you for your faithfulness. Lord, in a world where one struggles to find a faithful person, I am so grateful that I can put my trust in you without worry. Thank you, Father, for allowing me to be a recipient of your love. My life would be nothing without you, Lord. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

VERSE
Jude 1:24-25 (KJV) Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,
To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

INSPIRATION
It is only God who can keep us from stumbling and making mistakes. His guidance ensures that we always come out right – and never disadvantaged. We begin to encounter errors when we try to do things in our own power.

PRAYER
Dear God, I simply ask that I do not wander away from the path that you have set for my life. May I always pay attention to your instructions, and may I carry them out well. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

VERSE

Titus 2:13-14 (KJV) Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

INSPIRATION

Even amidst the harshest environments, seeds may produce flowers of life. Churches may often seem like these places, scrunched in between the most hostile of environments or towering metropolises. The real temple of God is within our hearts if needs be our places of worship could be as simple as a room with a few chairs. Our zealotry, our love of Christ and the gospel are what allows us to survive in some of these places. So praise be to the Lord! For Him we will forever endure!

PRAYER

Lord my guide, my Heavenly Father and light within the desert or the storm, grant to all Your children a life of joy and worship within Your Temple. For whether in Heaven or on earth, our hearts labor for only You Lord, who can deliver us from death and forever grant us grace. Amen.

Verse

Psalms 56:4 (KJV) In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.

Inspiration

As mentioned in previous verses, the motif of our flesh or material world coming to pass whilst the soul lives on is a common one. It serves to illustrate one of the most sacred of our doctrines, that the spirit is and belongs to God in everlasting life. Even Christ Himself, perhaps the most extreme example, embodied this for all to see. His flesh was torn, ripped, nailed, whipped, tortured and bruised, yet after the third day He rose again, and eventually entered up into heaven to sit on the right hand of God. Through Him, our soul lives on, the body may fail or break, but our spirit is limitless.

Prayer

My God and my Father, and to the Holy Messiah, I give thanks and praise Your name. May our spirits be lifted into Your Heavenly Kingdom and reside amongst the angels at the foot of Your throne. Grant me the faith and wisdom to follow You Lord, through the footsteps of Your only begotten Son whose blood was shed for the salvation of each and everyone. Amen.

(VERSE)
James 4:10 (KJV) Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

(INSPIRATION)
Be humble. Seems so obvious but is so difficult. The ego in humans is so powerful, thinking that each of us deserves good. Deserves? We deserve nothing! God has graciously granted us the possibility to love and understand him. How often do we wait and expect God to come to us? Are we so arrogant? “Knock and the door shall be opened for you.” Leave everything else to God.

(PRAYER)
Merciful and loving God, please illuminate a humble path that You would see as righteous. My worldly knowledge is nothing, but I ask that You forgive my doubts and arrogance. Thank you for trying to help all of humanity by sending a messenger that we could understand in the form of Your son, Jesus Christ. It is in His holy name that we pray. Amen.

(VERSE)
Isaiah 43:2-3 (KJV) When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.
For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee.

(INSPIRATION)
God never said the water and storms won’t come. If anything, when you read through the New Testament, you will see that Jesus assured us that we would face many trials and tribulations as a result of choosing to follow Him. But God has always assured us of His presence, in the good times and in the tough times. He has made his promise to be with us since the writing of the Old Testament. God will never leave you to face any trials on your own. He will always be there to strengthen you and help you endure.

(PRAYER)
Dear God, I am grateful for Your love and the assurance You give me that You will always be with me. I can’t make it through this world without You, Lord. You give me the strength I need to bear the trials, and the will to keep going on. May I never try to stray from your covering, Lord. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

(VERSE)
John 8:24 (KJV) I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.

(INSPIRATION)
Those who believe not in Jesus Christ, that He is the true Messiah, the Son of God, and the Lamb of God, will "die in their sins." Unbelief is itself a sin, added to the pile of their other sins. But it is for all of an unbeliever's sins that he perishes, not only for the sin of unbelief. How tragic is that sin, though, for if only he had believed, all his other sins would have been washed away!

(PRAYER)
O God, You are the Just Judge of all the earth. You are just to judge sin, all sins of all men. It is not in Your nature to "grade on a curve" and "let sin slide." You did not forgive us by mere fiat, by a mere act of Your will that canceled Your Law. But, thanks be to Your holy name, You redeemed us by the precious blood of Your own Son, who paid the full demands of Your justice on the cross. Amen

(VERSE)
Romans 4:25 (KJV) Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.

(INSPIRATION)
Christ Jesus was given up to suffering and death on a cruel Roman cross, by God the Father, in order that he might purge away our sins. He who had not offended at all, died for the offenses of sinners, the Just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God. And this Christ who so loved us enough to die did not remain in the grave, but He rose victoriously that he might raise us also to spiritual life and justify us through faith.

(PRAYER)
We know, Lord, that we all offend in many points, but that your dear Son offended in none. In your wisdom, O Lord, you knew there was no other way but the cross that a people for your praise could be redeemed. We thank you for your great love to us, and we know that you who gave up your own Son for us and raised him up from the dead will also raise up us on the Day of Christ. Amen

(((DEVOTION)))

((OUR LIVING HOPE))

(WE HAVE DONE NOTHING TO DESERVE THIS GREAT GIFT OF ETERNAL LIFE IN HEAVEN)

(VERSE)
1 Peter 1:3-5 (KJV) Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,
Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

(INSPIRATION)
Let us to consider these words from the First Letter of St. Peter. In his letter, he asks us to rejoice because in his great love for us, we have been promised an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled and unfading. We have done nothing to deserve this great gift of eternal life in heaven. Jesus did all the work. All we are asked to do is to have genuine faith. We who have not seen and yet believe; we who have not seen and yet love! How can we not share this good news! This week we will begin the season of Lent which will conclude with those events that have earned this inheritance for us – the Passion, death and resurrection of Jesus. We know that Jesus is risen from the dead, that we are saved, that our faith has set us free. This inheritance is not in gold or silver that can be stolen from us. It is not going to be devalued by inflation! Nothing will sweep away a home or land, and no work of art will fade or be broken. No, this inheritance is permanent, will last beyond this life through all eternity. If money, or land or a work of art can give us happiness, just think of what happiness awaits us in heaven. And we didn’t have to work for it! As we reflect on how good God has been to us, let us consider how faithful we have been to his commands.

(PRAYER)
Loving and faithful God, you sent your Son Jesus Christ to save us and earn for us the promise of eternal life, an inheritance we could never earn. May we be faithful to you and live lives worthy of your goodness. Amen
