John 19:5-6 (KJV) Then came Jesus forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple robe. When the chief priests therefore and officers saw him, they cried out, saying, Crucify him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Take ye him, and crucify him: for I find no fault in him.

VERSE
John 1:4-5 (KJV) In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

INSPIRATION
Death equals darkness, whereas life equals light. Through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, those who believe in him have eternal life. That means they have been called out of darkness and into the light. Hallelujah! Furthermore, darkness will never overcome the light for his light shines in the darkness. Much like a how even in the darkest room the flicker of a candle light is seen, his light will never be extinguished.

PRAYER
Dear God, thank you for the incredible gift of your son, Jesus Christ. Through his death and resurrection, we have been set from death and given eternal life. Our salvation sets us apart in the midst of darkness. Thank you for overcoming darkness, O Lord. May we live our lives shining brightly to bring your glory and draw others to you. In Jesus’ name, amen.

VERSE
Psalms 86:6-7 (KJV) Give ear, O LORD, unto my prayer; and attend to the voice of my supplications.
In the day of my trouble I will call upon thee: for thou wilt answer me.

INSPIRATION
The covenant between us and God is a sacred one, and one wherein we should forever feel free to talk to the Almighty Lord about anything and everything. This might seem redundant, seeing as the Lord already knows all that resides in your heart. Yet, this is wrongheaded. Great prayers are like superb conversations. Just as one wouldn’t expect an interesting conversation to be formulaic, but instead spontaneous and dynamic, so too one explores and finds out what one understands of something by ‘thinking through your mouth’. Prayer is not simply a stale routine, but rather a dialogue, a game of improvisation and exploration with God, who loves to listen.

PRAYER
Almighty Father I thank you for hearing my prayers, for listening to Your humble servant Lord, who wishes to understand better all things divine and true. Help me accomplish this as my spirit communes with You in praise and continued prayer. Amen.

VERSE

1 Corinthians 12:27 (KJV) Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.

INSPIRATION

Of every true church it can be said, "you are the Body of Christ, the Bride of Christ, the people of God, the children of God, the saints of God, the Church of God." And of every true Christian, it can be said, you are a member of these groups, which are one and the same group really but under different names.

PRAYER

Lord, there are many members but one Body. And if each local church is "a body of Christ," there is still that bigger, single, all-encompassing "the Body of Christ." There is a mystical union among all believers of all time and in all places who have been placed in union with your Son. May I fellowship freely with all true sons of God that I meet and rejoice to see the work you have done in their lives. Amen

VERSE
Matthew 1:20-21 (KJV) But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

INSPIRATION
Joseph offers also an exemplary case of faith within the Lord. Visited by an angel, instructed of Mary’s miraculous conception, these things may have been nearly impossible to accept for all or any without faith or awareness in God and His awesome power. Indeed, one may recall that Joseph was initially skeptical, which as a man devoted to his wife he may be perfectly entitled to. But through the Lord's miracles, the clouds of suspicion cleared. Through our Heavenly Father’s works, coupled with a willingness to reject our own arrogant nature, our initial doubts may find the light of grace, just as Joseph did.

PRAYER
Lord my Father, Father to Your Son Jesus Christ of Nazareth, and to the children of the world, friend of man and Joseph. Clear my doubts, purge my skepticism, and let there be no question of Your power and presence in everything on earth. For this is Your dominion, just as surely as You rule with love and truth over all of eternity in Heaven. Amen.

VERSE

Psalms 80:7 (KJV) Turn us again, O God of hosts, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

INSPIRATION

It is never too late to turn back to the Lord, to see His light. There is almost nothing in this world more beautiful, more memorable as ministers than seeing His children admitting into the faith and finding their salvation, to see this very illumination of Gods grace upon their faces. We should know that even those of us who have been devout followers all our lives, this turning towards God can be just as new and just as beautiful, just as new, should always strive to look for His light in every aspect of our lives.

PRAYER

Lord God my savior and salvation, clothe my spirit in Your warmth and mercy and ordain me once again into Your Paradise. Grant Your light to all Your children, old and new, for under Your roof we know there is always room, always light. Amen.

((IS IT NOT EASY TO BE A CHRISTIAN?))

(VERSE)
Colossians 3:12-13 (KJV) Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

(INSPIRATION)
What should we who are followers of Jesus look like? The answer is above. It is not easy to be a Christian. We try to be holy and kind, not proud or arrogant, to have compassion for others, and to keep going when it’s hard. The forgiving part is more difficult. Christ forgave us, who are sinners. Jesus forgave those who were nailing him to the cross. We sometimes don’t want to forgive people in our own families! Lack of forgiveness causes problems in families, neighborhoods, communities and nations. Even when we try to do the right thing, someone can be hurt. One of my friends was the only girl in the family and as an adult stayed in the home with her parents, helping out where she could, but worked in a low-paying job. The boys in the family, on the other hand, were married and worked in occupations that paid well, had good homes, and no financial worries. When her parents died, she inherited the house, which was also an income property. Their resentment was so strong, that when one of the brothers died, she was not allowed to stand in the receiving line at the wake. It took almost twenty years for the other brother to speak to her. Because they couldn’t forgive the parents, they took it out on her. How many others turn their lack of forgiveness to the undeserved! Neighborhoods can be split because someone takes the side of the innocent; whole groups of people can be targeted because of the actions of a few. Jesus died for the guilty and the innocent. He did not judge. We are called to forgive those who sin against us if we want God to forgive us. We need to remember this as we pray,

(PRAYER)
Our Father, who art in heaven, forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. Amen

((WE BELIEVE THE PROMISE, THE PROMISE THAT BEGAN IN THE GARDEN OF EDEN ANDRENEWED IN THE GARDEN OF GETHSEMANE)

(VERSE)
Mark 16:12-14 (KJV) After that he appeared in another form unto two of them, as they walked, and went into the country.
And they went and told it unto the residue: neither believed they them.
Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen.

(INSPIRATION)
It took a lot for the apostles to believe that Jesus was alive. Each of the evangelists tells a different version of that first day of the week, but the one thing they all agree on is the difficulty they had in believing. In Mark’s version, the women who had first gone to the tomb didn’t tell them what they had found. Mary Magdalen had told them that she had seen him, but they didn’t believe her. Were the two that he had appeared to as they were walking into the country the same two that were heading for Emmaus in Luke’s version? There’s no way of knowing, but maybe. In John’s version, Thomas isn’t there when Jesus appears to them the first time and insists that he will need to touch his wounds before he believes. It’s hard to know why they had such a hard time believing, but would you or I be any different? In one sense, we have to believe without seeing. We believe because of what others have told us. We choose to believe because we see the evidence of God working in our lives. We believe the promise; the promise that began in the Garden of Eden and renewed in the Garden of Gethsemane, and finalized on the cross. In John’s version, Jesus tells Thomas, “Because you have seen me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed.” We are blessed by Jesus because we believe.

(PRAYER)
Thank you, Lord for these witnesses to your resurrection for it is by their testimony that we have come to know you. Amen
