BY NATHAN MUBILA
MEMORY TEXT:LUKE 23:34:46
TITLE: STILL MY FATHER
🔷Luke 23:34–46 teaches us that the cross was not an accident, it was God's redemptive plan. Jesus was rejected so that we could be accepted, wounded so that we could be healed, condemned so that we could receive forgiveness, and separated in death so that we could have access to God.
The greatest lesson of the cross is ,when humanity was giving Jesus its worst, Jesus was giving humanity God's best.
🔷Let not pain disturb your relationship with God.
Pain has a way of changing our perspective. When we are hurting, we may begin to question God, withdraw from prayer, stop attending church, or feel that God has abandoned us. But pain should never become the reason we distance ourselves from the One who can carry us through it.
🔷Don't let pain make you stop praying, don't let disappointment make you stop trusting, don't let unanswered questions make you doubt God's character, don't let what people have done to you separate you from God and don't allow temporary pain to make you abandon an eternal relationship.
🔷Forgiveness is stronger than hatred.
Jesus was being crucified, yet He prayed for those responsible.
🔷 Salvation is by grace
The criminal demonstrates that salvation comes through faith in Christ, not human achievement.
🔷Don't let suffering change your character
Jesus remained loving even when people were cruel to Him.
🔷 God can use what looks like defeat to accomplish victory
The cross looked like Jesus had lost, but it was actually the beginning of humanity's victory over sin.
🔷 The cross gives us access to God
The torn veil reminds us that Christ removed the barrier between God and humanity.
🔷Faith means surrender
Jesus' final words teach us to place our lives completely into God's hands.
🔷The Cross teaches us that even when life hurts,God is still worthy of our trust.
