The Boys’ Brigade of 9th Lusaka Company went on an educational expedition to the Lusaka National Museum, a journey that bridged the gap between historical heritage and the development of young citizens. This visit served as more than a simple field trip; it was a profound immersion into the cultural and political tapestry of Zambia, aligning with the Brigade’s core pillars of discipline, knowledge, and Christian character.
Upon entering the museum, the young members were guided through the Ethnography and Art Gallery. Here, they encountered the traditions of Zambia’s diverse ethnic groups, viewing artifacts that range from traditional weaponry to intricate basketry. For many of the boys, seeing the physical manifestations of their ancestors’ daily lives sparked a renewed sense of pride and a deeper understanding of the "One Zambia, One Nation" motto.
The journey continued into the Political History Gallery, where the boys traced the footsteps of the nation’s founding fathers.
✅The Struggle for Independence: Understanding the transition from Northern Rhodesia to a sovereign Zambia.
✅Cultural Heritage: Exploring the evolution of Zambian art and traditional ceremonies.
✅The Freedom Statue: Discussing the symbolism of Zanco, the man breaking his chains, which serves as a powerful metaphor for personal and national liberty.
The visit concluded with a reflection session in the museum’s open spaces. The 9th Lusaka Company leaders emphasized that knowing one's history is the first step toward building a responsible future. By stepping out of the classroom and into the halls of the national museum, the Boys’ Brigade members returned home not just with facts, but with a strengthened identity and a clearer vision of their role in the ongoing story of Lusaka and the wider nation.
