TEXT: COLOSSIANS 3:23-24

TITLE: EXCELLENCE IN LIFE AND MINISTRY

Believers are to set high standards in all they do. Excellence, according to the Oxford dictionary, is “the quality of being outstanding or extremely good.” People in the world often view excellence as competition — surpassing others for self-glory. However, from a biblical perspective, excellence is a virtue which all disciples should have. We are called to a life of excellence in all areas of our lives.

Why Excellence Matters to God

Excellence matters to God because whatever we do is an expression of our hearts. Excellence in God’s sight is not about being the best, but about being your best. No matter what you do, you are serving the Lord.

If you are a Christian, you are working for Jesus. You are an undercover agent for Jesus Christ. The place where you work is simply the specific location where you serve Him, and the company you work for is part of your assignment under Him. This gives the quality of your work new importance. If you are working for Jesus, it matters how you do your work and how you conduct yourself. You may either honor Christ or dishonor Him through your actions.

Aim for Excellence

We can only aim for excellence by seeking to be like Christ. God provides opportunities for us to grow into Christlikeness, and He uses both good and bad circumstances in our lives. This is what Romans 8:28 speaks about. The expression “all things” includes not only good and happy experiences, but also bad and unpleasant ones.

The Cost of Excellence

Excellence in life does not just happen. There is a cost that we must be willing to pay. The pursuit of excellence may require sacrifice, which involves giving up certain things in order to grow. There are many things we must let go of if we are to live excellent lives.

It also requires commitment. Commitment is an engagement or pledge to do something. We must be committed to building a relationship with Christ and committed to overcoming sin. God is looking for people He can trust — people who are committed.

Final Charge

The pursuit of excellence should not be limited by the nature of the task. Whatever we do, whether small or big, we should do it to the glory of God. God deserves our best because He gave His best (Romans 8:32) — His Son.

Sunday Service Recap – The Resurrection Experience 🙌🏾

At Rivers of Life City Church World Impact Ministries, we had a life-transforming Special Easter Sunday Service under the powerful theme:

“The Resurrection Experience” (Philippians 3:10),

Sub-theme: “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free” (Galatians 5:1).

We were deeply blessed by the ministry of Gamaliel Mwanza , Senior Pastor at Eagle Ministries, whose message reminded us that the resurrection is not just a past event but a present, living reality.

He emphasized that through Jesus’ death, we have been granted access to a deeper, intimate relationship with God. The resurrection calls us to move beyond the natural and step into the spiritual to experience God’s divine presence in a real and personal way.

We were challenged to exchange the old for the new to lay down the garments of sin, doubt, and the flesh, and put on a renewed life in Christ. Because when we linger in God’s presence, we begin to see clearly, gain divine direction, and walk in purpose.

The message made it clear: Resurrection is an experience. It is something we must live daily not just believe. As we pursue God wholeheartedly, we begin to walk in the freedom Christ has already given us freedom from fear, bo***ge, and limitation.

This service was a call to rise higher, to trust in God’s Word, and to fully embrace a transformed life that reflects the power of Christ’s resurrection.
