Theme: Keep the Fire Burning on the Altar
Scripture: Leviticus 6:12–13

This Sunday, we were reminded of the importance of maintaining a vibrant relationship with God through a continually burning altar. We explored the significance of altars throughout Scripture, from Noah, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, where altars served as places of sacrifice, worship, thanksgiving, forgiveness, and divine encounters.

We also reflected on the sacrificial system established under Moses, which ultimately pointed to Jesus Christ—the perfect sacrifice for the redemption of mankind (John 1:29; 1 Timothy 2:6).

The message emphasized that while evil altars exist (Judges 6:24–26), our focus must remain on establishing and maintaining God’s altar in our personal lives and families. As believers, we are called to be living sacrifices unto God (Romans 12:1), keeping the fire of prayer, worship, obedience, and fellowship continually burning.

Keep the fire on your altar burning. A strong altar produces a strong spiritual life and creates room for continual encounters with God.

📝 Title: Hindrances to Living an Excellent Life

It’s the desire of every Christian to live an excellent life. But along the way, hindrances usually make it impossible to do so. The following are some of the few hindrances to living an excellent life.

1️⃣ THE SCHEMES OF SATAN (Ephesians 6:11)

Schemes are methods that Satan uses to trap us from living an excellent life.

• Lying – Every time you’re tempted to deceive others, Satan is at work in your heart (John 8:44).

• Divisions – 1 Corinthians 1:10
Divisions in the family, church, marriages, workplace, sporting clubs, neighborhood, and government are the work of Satan.

• Failure to witness is a scheme of the devil.

2️⃣ THE SEDUCTION OF THE WORLD (Judges 16:1-21)

Seduction means to lead astray from or to lead away from the truth. Not knowing the Word of God causes the devil to seduce us.

The devil seduces us because we don’t know the Word of God and are comfortable with the things of the world. We get so concerned with who is dating who, who is driving what, and who is wearing what. We become too consumed with the things of this world.

3️⃣ THE STRUGGLE WITH THE SINFUL NATURE

The Bible clearly states that the acts of the sinful nature are obvious (Galatians 5:19-20). The aim of the sinful nature is to destroy us (Galatians 6:8).

When you give yourself to the Spirit, the flesh loses its power. Satan is both an intruder and a trespasser. He can only intrude and trespass if we allow him by opening the door for him. Sin is the result of Satan getting into our lives.

An excellent life is possible when we remain grounded in God’s Word, resist the schemes of the enemy, reject worldly distractions, and walk daily in the Spirit.
