Many believers today have lost the fear of God and the consciousness of honor. Some speak evil against the very pastor God has placed over them, criticize him in secret, mock him with others, spread rumors, and still come before the same altar expecting prayers, breakthroughs, deliverance, and spiritual guidance. This should not be so in the body of Christ.
A pastor is not a perfect man, but he is a servant chosen by God to watch over souls. When people constantly insult, dishonor, and fight their spiritual leader with their words, they open doors to spiritual dryness and rebellion in their own lives.
The Bible says:
โObey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give accountโฆโ
โ Hebrews 13:17
Many want the blessings of the altar but do not respect the vessel God is using. You cannot continuously tear down your shepherd with your mouth and expect to grow spiritually under the same grace you are dishonoring.
The Bible also says:
โTouch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm.โ
โ Psalm 105:15
Some members sit in church smiling before the pastor, but outside they become agents of division, gossip, criticism, and confusion. This grieves the Holy Spirit. God is not pleased with double-mindedness.
โA whisperer separateth chief friends.โ
โ Proverbs 16:28
Instead of praying for their leaders, many attack them. Instead of covering them in prayer, they expose them in conversations. Yet pastors continue fasting for the same people, praying for them, counseling them, and standing in the gap for their families.
The Bible commands believers to honor spiritual leaders:
โLet the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honourโฆโ
โ 1 Timothy 5:17
If a pastor corrects, many become offended. If he speaks truth, some call it judgment. But correction is part of love and spiritual growth.
โRemember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of Godโฆโ
โ Hebrews 13:7
The church must return to honor, loyalty, prayer, and spiritual maturity. No church can grow in unity where members constantly fight the shepherd God has placed over them.
If there is disagreement, handle it with wisdom, prayer, and respect โ not gossip, insults, and rebellion.
May God give His people hearts that are pure, humble, and conscious of honor in His house.
