ELDER BUSIKU SULWE URGES PARENTS TO SUPPORT YOUTH DEVELOPMENT
Elder Busiku Sulwe, from Kaonga Seventh-day Adventist Church, has emphasized the importance of parental support in youth development. Speaking at the induction ceremony at Nkabika S.D.A Church, Sulwe encouraged parents to provide physical, financial, and spiritual support to their children.
Sulwe stressed the need for parents to teach their children valuable life skills, including entrepreneurship and resilience, to prepare them for the challenges of the world. "Opportunities favor the prepared," he said, quoting a popular saying. He urged the youth to take advantage of available courses and training to become marketable.
The induction ceremony, held on 18th January 2025 at Nkabika SDA Church of Mazabuka North Mission District in Rusangu Conference, marked a significant milestone for the church. Over 50 youths, ranging from 2 to 35 years old, were officially inducted and charged for duty.
As the guest of honor, Sulwe pledged to sponsor one person to attend a youth camp in Zimbabwe. He also challenged all church elders to join hands and sponsor at least one youth.
The induction was led by Educational Secretary for Magoye West, Master Guide Roman Hamonga, accompanied by Conference Marshal MG Anderson Kawina. Pastor Moses Chimatimbiti from Rusangu delivered the sermon.
The officers were received by MG Brian Mutale and MG Gladson Nakowa, conference pathfinder director.
In his closing remarks, Elder Mackiver Mweene, the elder in charge of Nkabika youths, thanked Sulwe for his wise counsel and continued support to the church. He also acknowledged Sulwe's contribution to the construction of a modern pulpit with a baptismal pool at Natala Camp site, which is currently underway.
The successful induction ceremony demonstrated the church's commitment to nurturing the spiritual growth and development of its young members.
