We all go through bad patches in life.
We make terrible mistakes and the voice that strongly comes out is, "What will people say or think of me? You are useless, just end it."
I felt so worthless and hopeless when I lost my wife, because as far as I was concerned, since we had prayed she was supposed to deliver normally and not die. Guess what was running through my mind in the aftermath of her death, that there is nothing worth living for. Imagine the lies I was telling myself and entertaining. I thank God that he sent people who were sensitive to my plight and must have picked up on my self destructive thoughts and managed to distract me. As days went by, I began opening up to people close to me, and that is when the narrative in my head began to change. All I am labouring to say is that suicidal thoughts can creep in so quickly and if you're not careful you may think all is ok and you will handle it when in fact you are not able to. Friends, no one is exempt from life's struggles, but no matter what happens or how the going gets tough, it is wise to open up to those close to you, even a complete stranger if you must. If it means making a mistake by opening up, do so, as there is healing in sharing our burdens. Committing su***de should never be an option, no matter how tempting the prospect. It is better to have a nervous breakdown or be depressed for a while because you will eventually heal. Su***de is final, there is no coming back from the dead. Whatever you are going through is just a phase, it will pass. There is nothing new under the Sun. There is nothing so bad that would require you taking your life. Always seek an ear that will counsel you. Above all, cast your burdens upon Jesus for He cares for you.
