“For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God” (1 Peter 3:18). Jesus Christ was baptized for our redemption and died once at the Cross in order to save you and me, the unjust.

To remove the need for us to stand before God for our judgment, He died once on this earth. In order that we can live in the kingdom of heaven before God, He came down to this world in the flesh and completely washed away all our sins once for all with His Baptism, His death on the Cross, and His resurrection.

Do you believe that Jesus Christ saved us completely with His Baptism and blood? If you do not believe in the gospel of His Baptism and blood, you cannot be saved. Because we are so weak, we cannot be born again if we do not believe that Jesus completely washed away all our sins once and for all with His Baptism and blood.

He was baptized to take away all our sins and was judged on the Cross for us once and for all. Jesus washed away all the sins of sinners once and for all with the redemption of His Baptism and blood.

“There is also an antitype which now saves us—baptism.” It is written in 1 Peter that only eight souls were saved through water. How many people would there have been in Noah’s time? We have no way of knowing how many there were, but let’s suppose that there were about a million. Only 8 people in Noah’s family out of a million were saved.

The ratio would be about the same today. They say that there are more than 8 billion people on the earth right now. How many people have been washed of their sins among those who believe in Jesus today? If we were to take a look at only one city, there would be very few of them.

In a city that has about 250,000 people, how many among them would be the ones redeemed from there sins -perhaps 200? Then what would the ratio be? It would mean that less than one out of a thousand had received the blessing of redemption.

It is estimated that there are about 12 million Christians in Korea, including Catholics. Out of these, how many among them have been born again of water and the Spirit? We should keep in mind that there were only 8 saved out of the entire population of the earth in Noah’s time. We should know and believe that Jesus washed away the sins of all those who believe in His Baptism, through which He took away all sin.

There aren’t many who believe that Jesus redeemed all of us with His Baptism and His blood on the Cross. Look at the famous picture of ‘The Resurrection of Jesus.’ How many resurrected people are shown there? How many among them are theologians?

Today, there are plenty of theologians in the world, but we find so few who know and believe in the baptism of redemption. Some theologians say that the reason Jesus was baptized was that He was humble, and some say that He was baptized to become more like other men.

But it is written in the Bible that all the apostles, including Peter and John, testified to the transfer of our sins to Jesus through His Baptism, and we believe it too.

The apostles testify in the Scriptures that our sins were passed on to Jesus with His Baptism. It is such an amazing testimony to the grace of God that we can be delivered just by believing in it.

He who believes in His Son has the witness in himself. A redeemed person believes that their sins were passed onto Jesus when He was baptized, and that they were delivered with the water and the blood of Jesus. They believe that Jesus was born into this world through the body of Mary; He was baptized in the Jordan before He died at the Cross; He died and was resurrected.

The righteous have the witness. The proof of our salvation is in our faith in Jesus, who came by water, blood, and the Spirit. The witness is in you. ‘Have the witness in yourself.’ I say to you: It is not salvation if there is no witness; the proof of salvation is within you.

The Apostle John said, “He who believes in the Son of God has the witness in himself” (1 John 5:10). Is it to have the witness to believe only in the blood on the Cross? To believe in the water but not the blood? You should believe in all three to be recognized by God.

Only then will Jesus testify for you that ‘you are saved’. Are you saying that you will have the witness if you believe in only two (the blood, and the Spirit)? It would be to believe in God in your own way. It would be to ‘testify for yourself.’ There are so many like this. There are so many in the world who believe only in two out of the three. They testify that they have been saved and write books about it. How fluent they are! It is so frustrating. They call themselves ‘the Evangelicals’. They feel that they are not just ‘the Evangelicals,’ but ‘the religious’. They do not believe in the ‘water’ but still boast of salvation! How logical they sound! But they do not have the witness of God. It is only a hypothesis.

How can you call it salvation? Only the ones who believe in Jesus, who came by the Spirit, water, and blood, have the witness of God and men.

The redemption that Jesus bestowed upon man is of the water of Jesus’ Baptism and His blood on the Cross. By that redemption we should arise and shine. How? By testifying to these three things.

“Arise, shine; For your light has come! And the glory of the LORD is risen upon you” (Isaiah 60:1). God has shone the light on us and tells us to shine too. We should obey that order.

We have to preach the gospel with full force. However, so many people do not listen. Believe in Jesus and you will be redeemed. You will be righteous. If there is still sin in your heart, you are not yet righteous. You have not yet overcome the sins of the world.

You can never get rid of the sin in your heart if you do not believe in the water of Jesus (the Baptism of Jesus). You can never avoid judgment if you do not believe in the blood of Jesus. You can never be saved if you do not believe in Jesus Christ who came by the Spirit. You can never be completely righteous unless you believe in the three testimonies.

In 1 John 5:5-6, “Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? This is He that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ.”

Fellow Christians, the One who overcame the world, who overcame Satan was Jesus Christ. He who believes in the word of the water, the blood, and the Spirit of Jesus will also overcome the world. How did Jesus overcome the world? Through the redemption of the water, the blood, and the Spirit.

In the Bible, ‘water’ refers to ‘the baptism of Jesus’ (1 Peter 3:21). Jesus came to this world in the flesh. He came to save the sinners of the world; He was baptized to take away the sins of all the sinners of the world and He died on the Cross to atone for those sins.

The blood on the Cross refers to the fact that He came to this world in the flesh as a man. He came in the form of the flesh of a man to save sinners and was baptized with water. Therefore, Jesus came to us by both water and blood. In other words, He took away all the sins of the world with the water of His baptism and the blood of His death.

How did Satan rule over the world? Satan caused humankind to doubt the word of God and planted the seeds of disobedience in their hearts. In other words, Satan turned humankind into his servants by deceiving them into disobeying the word of God.

However, Jesus came into this world and blotted out all the sins of people with the water of His baptism and His blood on the Cross: He overcame Satan and blotted out all the sins of the world.

This occurred because Jesus Christ was the Savior of sinners. He became our Savior because He came by water and blood.

In John 13, there’s a story of Jesus washing Peter’s feet. He washed Peter’s feet in order to show him that Peter would sin in the future and to teach him that He had already redeemed all those sins too. Jesus knew that Peter would sin again in the future, so He poured water into a basin and washed his feet.

Peter tried to refuse, but Jesus said, “What I am doing you do not understand now, but you will know after this” (John 13:7). What this means is, ‘You will sin again after this. You will deny Me and sin again after I wash all your sins. You will sin even after My Ascension. Therefore, I wash your feet to warn Satan not to test you because I have already taken away your future sins.’

Do you think He washed Peter’s feet in order to tell us that we have to repent every day? No. If we had to repent every day to be redeemed, Jesus would not have taken away all our sins once and for all.

But Jesus said that He sanctified us once for all. If we were to repent every day, we might as well go back to the time of the Old Testament. Then who could become righteous? Who could be redeemed completely? Even if we believed in God, who could live without sin? Who could become sanctified by repentance? We sin ceaselessly each day, so how can we ask to have each and every sin taken away? How could we become so shameless as to pester Him every day for redemption? We tend to forget our sins of the morning by the end of the day, and the sins of the evening by the next morning. It is impossible for us to completely repent of all our sins.

Therefore, Jesus was baptized once and offered Himself at the Cross once so that we might become sanctified once for all time. Can you understand this? We were redeemed once for all our sins. We are not redeemed whenever we repent.

God prepared for John to be born into this world before Jesus. John was born so that he could baptize Jesus and pass all the sins of the world on to Him. A descendant of the high priest had to offer the sacrifice of atonement in order to fulfill the Covenant of God made in the Old and New Testament; in order that the gospel of the redemption of Jesus would be believed and carried out correctly.

In Exodus, God gave Israel His Law and Covenants; the law of God and the law for governing the sacrificial ministry in the Tabernacle, down to the attire of the priests, details of sacrifices, and the succession of the priesthood to the sons of priests. God appointed Aaron and his descendants to the high priesthood in perpetuity.

Therefore, all descendants of Aaron could offer sacrifices and the high priests could come only from the house of Aaron. Do you see how it was?

But among many descendants of Aaron, God chose a certain priest named Zacharias and his wife Elizabeth. He had said, “Behold, I send My messenger before Your face.” When God told Zacharias that He would enable Elizabeth to have a son, and that He was to name him John, he was so astonished that he became mute at His command until the son was born and named.

And indeed, a son was born to his house. When it was time to name the baby according to the custom of Israel, they intended to name the son after his father.

In Malachi 3:1, it is written, “Behold, I send My messenger, and he will prepare the way before Me.” You have to read the Bible carefully. Why did God send His messenger before Jesus? Why was John the Baptist born 6 months before Jesus?

We have to understand what the Bible is all about. There is a section in the Old Testament on the ministry of the high priest Aaron. Aaron was the elder brother of Moses. He and his sons were anointed as priests by God. The other Levites worked under them, bringing them assorted utensils, mixing the batter for the bread and such, while the sons of Aaron offered the sacrifice inside the holy tabernacle.

So the sons of Aaron were anointed to share the equal amount of work among themselves, but on the Day of Atonement, the tenth day of the seventh month, the high priest alone offered the sacrifice of atonement for his people.

In Luke 1:5, there is a story about the lineage of John the Baptist. We have to understand correctly about this messenger of God to understand Jesus correctly. We tend to think a lot about Jesus, but ignore much about John the Baptist, who came before Him. I would like to help you understand.

‘The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. As it is written in the Prophets: “Behold, I send My messenger before Your face, who will prepare Your way before You”’ (Mark 1:1-2). The gospel of heaven always starts with John the Baptist.

When we understand well about John the Baptist, we can clearly understand and believe in the gospel of the redemption of Jesus. It is similar to listening to the ambassadors we have dispatched all over the world in order to understand the situations of all nations. When we know about John the Baptist, we can understand the redemption of God very well.

What a pity it is, however, that so many Christians these days do not see the importance of John. God didn’t send John the Baptist because He was bored and had nothing else to do. All the four Gospels of the New Testament talk about John the Baptist before talking about the redemption of Jesus.

John the Baptist baptized people and then baptized Jesus. The first was ‘the baptism of repentance’ which called upon sinners to return to God. Many people who heard the words of God through John abandoned their idols and returned to God.

The Second baptism was the baptism of Jesus, the baptism that passed all the sins of the world on to Jesus. John the Baptist baptized Jesus to fulfill the righteousness of God. Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist to save all people from their sins (Matthew 3:15).

Why did John have to baptize Jesus? In order to blot out the sins of the world, God had to let John pass all sin on to Jesus so that people who believed in Jesus could be saved.

John the Baptist was the servant of God whose work was to help all mankind to be washed of their sins and he was the representative of mankind who testified to the gospel of redemption. Therefore, John had to live alone in the wilderness. In the time of John the Baptist, the people of Israel were all corrupt and rotten to the core.

Our Lord God has cut off the shackles of sin for all people. All those who labor under sin are slaves. He removed all our sins. Is there anyone who still suffers from sin?

We have to understand that our warfare against sin has ended. We shall never suffer from sin again. Our bo***ge to sin ended when Jesus redeemed us; all sins ended then and there. All our sins have been expiated by His Son. God paid for all our sins through Jesus, who set us free, forever.

Do you know how much people suffer from their sins? It started from the time of Adam and Eve. Mankind suffers from the sins inherited from Adam.

But our God made a covenant which is written in Genesis 3:15, and the covenant was that He would deliver all sinners. He said that humans would be redeemed of their sins through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ by the water and the Spirit. And when the time came, He sent our Savior, Jesus, to live among us.
