SPEAKER: _Rev. Joyce Sampa Malaika_

SERMON TITLE: *BREAK UP THE FALLOW GROUND*

Scripture References

- Jeremiah 4:3
- James 2:13
- Psalm 5:2

Just as a farmer prepares the soil before planting, we must prepare our hearts to receive God's Word. A seed cannot grow in hard, neglected ground, and in the same way, God's Word cannot produce fruit in a heart that is unwilling to change.

*What Is Fallow Ground?*

Fallow ground is land that has not been cultivated or used for a long time. It becomes hard, dry, and overgrown with weeds and thorns, making it difficult for seeds to grow.

Spiritually:

- The Seed = God's Word
- The Fallow Ground = Your Heart

When our hearts become hard through sin, unforgiveness, pride, disobedience, or spiritual neglect, God's Word struggles to take root and bear fruit.

What Does It Mean to Break Up the Fallow Ground?

*Breaking up the fallow ground means:*

- Repenting of sin.
- Praying sincerely.
- Removing anything that hinders your relationship with God.
- Allowing God to soften and transform your heart.
- Becoming ready to receive and obey His Word.

*Do Not Sow Among Thorns*

Sowing among thorns is like hearing God's Word but refusing to change. The thorns represent the sins, worries, distractions, and worldly desires that choke the Word and prevent spiritual growth.

God calls us first to remove the thorns before expecting a fruitful harvest.

*The Seed You Sow Determines Your Harvest*

The seed you sow today determines the harvest you will reap tomorrow.

If you sow:

- Mercy, you will reap mercy.
- Love, you will reap love.
- Kindness, you will reap kindness.
- Forgiveness, you will reap forgiveness.
- Faithfulness, you will reap God's blessings.

James 2:13

"Mercy triumphs over judgment."

When you show mercy to others, God also extends His mercy to you.

Cry to God

Psalm 5:2 reminds us to cry out to God, our King, because He hears the prayers of those who sincerely seek Him. As we humble ourselves before
