WHO HAS KNOWN THE MIND OF GOD?
Romans 11:33-35
If we had any understanding of the mind of God, we wouldn't be so surprised when things happen that we can't comprehend. I have a feeling that the question we ask God the most is, "Why?" Why this disaster, why do people kill, why did the tornado take my house and none of the others on the street? Why me? Why didn't you stop/prevent that from happening? Even when we know that it was not God who caused whatever it is we're questioning, we question! If you're anything like me, you have a list of things you want answers to when you meet God face to face. I have sometimes heard it said that life is like a tapestry. We only see the bottom of the tapestry, the side with all the crisscrosses of threads and the hanging pieces. God sees the top side, the finished product. We don't know why things happen the way they do, and we never will. What is most important is that we trust in God, that we trust God, that we have faith. This is what gets us through the difficult times that we don't understand. Faith is also what keeps us from taking credit for the good things that happen, or thinking that we just lucky. God's hand is in everything. He can't prevent the bad things that people do as he has given us free will and sometimes we use it in the wrong direction. Then, God gets us through it. In many ways the problems with weather are human's fault as well, as we have not taken good care of the planet we were entrusted with. When we trust God, we can have peace of mind even in the bad times and know that one day we will see what God sees and our questions will be answered.

Dear God, we know there is evil in the world, but we know You have conquered it. Hallelujah! We praise Your holy name, O Lord. You are the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End. Sin has no power over You. Thank You for sending Your son, Jesus Christ, to be our savior. He defeated death and darkness so that we may live free of the bo***ge of sin. Help me to live my life in celebration of this victory and freedom. In Jesus' name, Amen.

FOR OUR GOD IS A CONSUMING FIRE. Hebrews 12:29

A consuming fire is one that completely or utterly destroys, so why would a loving God also be called a consuming fire? It is a challenging question, but we must understand that God is holy – so holy that the unrighteous cannot be in his presence. This consuming fire destroys anything unholy. Those with sin are unable to approach God. It is only through his son, Jesus Christ, that we find forgiveness and salvation. Through his mercy, we are able to stand reverently before Him.

Dear God, You are a consuming fire. You are holy, O Lord. We know sin is an offense to You. Forgive us of our sins, Father. Thank You for Your mercy and for sending Your son, Jesus Christ, so that we may approach You with reverence and awe. You are amazing and we are undeserving of Your attention, but You are good to show us favor. May I always remember Your power and worship You with humility. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Lord, I am not always strong. In fact, I rarely am. I often rely too much on my own strength and not Yours. Help me to rely on You and not myself. Help me rely on Your strength. Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The LORD hath done great things for them. Psalms 126:2

Isn't it incredible that the Lord created humor and laughter? He can make us laugh and our hearts filled with joy. The Lord certainly has a good sense of humor since He created humor. He also makes us sing with joy. God is amazing. He's done great things for us. If you haven't experienced joy and laughter that comes from God, pray about it. Ask God to show You joy. Ask Him to bring laughter into your life. Keep praying for it, and it will come as you seek the Lord.

Heavenly Father, I want to feel Your joy. I want my eyes to crinkle with gladness, and my heart to swell with happiness. Joy like that comes from You. You can make me joyful in the hardest times. I have faith in You. Help me to spread Your joy to others by living for You in each day. I praise You, the God who created joy, laughter, and song. In Jesus' name. Amen.

NOTHING IS HIDDEN FROM GOD
Little children who are just learning about unhappy parents try to hide what they do. They figure if it's hidden, they won't get punished. As adults, we can sometimes feel the same way about God. I have this feeling that one of the reasons teenagers or young adults who are testing the limits, avoid church because they don't feel comfortable in God's presence! Just like children, we can think we can hide from the Father. Not possible! Even in our daily lives, we know that when we do the wrong thing, we can be found out. People think that they can deny responsibility for their actions, but "the truth will out." The person who takes credit for a project at work, but others who know the truth will let the employer know. The person who denies responsibility runs into the same problem. There is always someone who knows the truth and will be happy to share it. Even if you don't get caught, God knows what you have done, and waits for you to confess and ask forgiveness.

Lord, you know what we do in the dark as well as what we do in the light. May we acknowledge our sinfulness before you and ask for your forgiveness. Amen

O LORD, correct me, but with judgment; not in thine anger, lest thou bring me to nothing. Jeremiah 10:24

Lord, You make sure to keep me growing and maturing in my relationship with You. Thank You for that. Please correc,t me so I continue to grow in You and do not stray. Have mercy on me when I need correction. Please hold back Your anger. You are too mighty and awe worthy, I could not handle Your anger. Thank You for Your correction and grace. Let me always receive them. In Jesus' name. Amen.
