LIVING BY THE SPIRIT AND BY THE WORD

”But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God John 1:12-13.”

Christianity is living by the Spirit and by the Word of God. Your life came from the Word of God. The whole universe was created by the Word of God. God spoke creation into being by His Word: John 1:1-3, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made.”

Notice that He gives personality to the Word of God. All things were made by Him, the Word of God, and without Him was not anything made that was made. God upholds all things, He keeps them in place by the Word of His power (Hebrews 1:3). This same Word is who John tells us became flesh and dwelt amongst us John 1:14.

The Lord Jesus is the incarnate Word, the living Word. When He walked the earth, He was the Word of God encased in a human body. Are you aware that the same is true of you? Being born again, you’ve been born of the Word and have the life of the Word: “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever” 1 Peter 1:23.

This therefore means that you don't live by your blood; you live by the Spirit of God and by the Word of God. No wonder Jesus said, “...Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God” Matthew 4:4. It’s also the reason He said, “...if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them...” Mark 16:18. Your life came from the Word, not from blood. Read our opening scripture again.

Also, Romans 8:11 says, _*“But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.” This is your reality in Christ Jesus: the Spirit of God has quickened, vitalized and given life to your physical body. Divinity has taken its abode in you.

You’ve been brought into life and immortality, begotten by the Word of truth (2 Timothy 1:10). This is why we say Christianity isn’t a religion. It’s life in the Word, by the Word, through the Word, and by the Spirit. It’s the supernatural walk of God's heavenly children in the earth. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Blessed Father, thank you for making me a living expression of your Word. I function by your Spirit and walk in the reality of my divine origin. My life is regulated by your Word, upheld by your power, and filled with the glory of your presence. I flourish in health, wisdom, and strength, demonstrating the supernatural life everywhere, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

TOPIC ✨ LIFTING YOUR HANDS TO THE LORD ✨

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice (Psalm 141:2).

When people are asked to lift their hands in worship during a church service, some respond mechanically or not at all, often because they haven’t been trained in spiritual things. If they truly understood the spiritual significance of lifting their hands to the Lord, it wouldn’t be a struggle.

Years ago, in some meetings, I made an important observation: many of those who were healed had been unable to lift their hands due to pain. This caught my attention, and I asked the Spirit of God why so many people had this problem. He said, “I told them to worship with hands lifted; I instructed that all men pray everywhere lifting up holy hands, but they wouldn't.” Years later, they found themselves unable to lift their hands without effort or pain.

The lesson there was this: had they been worshipping with their hands lifted regularly, as God had instructed, such limitations wouldn’t have developed. But thank God for His grace that brought them healing. Never think that lifting your hands is unnecessary or even embarrassing while you’re praying or worshipping the Lord. It’s an act of faith, spiritual responsiveness, and yieldedness to the Spirit.

Even if lifting your hands was a painful effort before you became a Christian, keep practicing lifting them to the Lord in worship. By so doing, you’re acting on the Word. Before long, those same hands will rise higher and higher, effortlessly and without pain. Hebrews 12:12-13 says, “...lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees; And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed.”

Many of God’s children suffer physically, not because something is inherently wrong but because they neglect to do what the Word says, and Satan capitalizes on that. So, learn to act on the Word. Let your spirit train your body in worship. Keep lifting your hands in praise and you’ll experience such glory in your life that you never imagined.

PRAYER
Dear Father, I thank you for the privilege and blessing of worshipping you with my hands lifted in reverence and in love. There’s none like you. You’re great and mighty, the King of all and God of all flesh who alone has immortality and dwells in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see. To you be honour and everlasting power forever. Amen.

*THEME:* *”HOLY EXPRESSIONS OF WORSHIP”*

_*”God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth (John 4:24).”*_

God is a Spirit, and the Bible says those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth. However, there’re certain things you do physically that help you activate your spirit.

For example, when you consciously and deliberately kneel in prayer, it causes your spirit to be immediately activated for prayer. That’s why He told you to do it, because immediately, you're moved from your mental state into a spiritual state, fulfilling the Scriptures. Psalm 95:6 says, _*“O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker.”*_

Daniel also knelt in prayer: _*“Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house and... he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed...”*_ (Daniel 6:10). Even the Lord Jesus knelt down to pray: _*“And he was withdrawn from them about a stone’s cast, and kneeled down, and prayed”*_ (Luke 22:41).

The same thing happens when you lift your hands in prayer, adoration, praise and worship to the Lord. These physical actions draw you from the natural into the spiritual. They are holy expressions of reverence, adulation and worship. The Bible says, _*“I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting”*_ (1 Timothy 2:8).

King Solomon lifted his hands when he dedicated the temple: _*“And it was so, that when Solomon had made an end of praying all this prayer... he arose from before the altar of the LORD, from kneeling on his knees with his hands spread up to heaven”*_ (1 Kings 8:54). These examples show us the importance and spirituality of certain reverential actions, even though they’re physical.

Never take these spiritual postures lightly. They help shift your focus from the distractions of the flesh to the realities of the Spirit. They help you make contact with your spirit, and you’re stirred and awakened to deeper fellowship with the Lord. Recall the words of the Psalmist, _*“Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice”*_ (Psalm 141:2). Hallelujah!

*PRAYER*

*Dear Father, thank you for teaching me to worship you in spirit and in truth. I yield my body as an instrument of righteousness, aligning it with my spirit in worship, prayer and adoration. As I lift my hands and bow my knees, my spirit is stirred and awakened to deeper fellowship with you, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.*
