The Board Members’ Summit, held on Saturday, May 09, 2026 at Lukanga Main SDA Church of Midlands-East Zambia Conference, Northern Zambia Union Conference - NZUC, opened on a spiritual and inspiring note, setting the tone for a day centered on mission, leadership, and church growth.

Welcoming the gathering, Pastor Chombela, Executive Secretary of the Midlands East Zambia Conference, appreciated the ministers and officers present, including Pastor John Chilomo, Pastor Richard Chazingwa, Pastor Hankwebe, and Elder Sooka. He encouraged all board members to participate fully in both sessions for spiritual renewal and practical leadership guidance.

Preaching from Numbers 10:29–32, Pastor Chifumbe Kapenya called leaders to remain united in purpose and steadfast in mission, reminding them that leadership is a sacred trust.

In the afternoon session, Pastor Kapenya emphasized mission as the very reason for the church’s existence. He also highlighted recent Church Manual updates and key policy matters. Brother Robert Kabombo, the Union ACMS & IT specialist, presented on the importance of ACMS in effective church management.

It was truly a day of vision, unity, and renewed commitment to mission.

DORCAS WORKER DIES AT CAMP IN KABWE

By Nathan Muyambango

A 69-year-old Seventh-day Adventist Dorcas worker, Emeria Kakombo, has died after a tragic road accident during a church gathering in Kabwe. She passed away on Monday, April 27, 2026, while attending a Dorcas rally at Mukobeko Camp Site and was laid to rest on Thursday at her home village of Muswishi in Chisamba District.

According to Pastor John Chibala, Personal Ministries Director for Midlands East Zambia Conference, the late Ms. Kakombo, who also served as the Dorcas leader for Muswishi Mission District, met her death on the second day of the camp. She had gone into town to procure food supplies and other necessities for her group when she was struck by a Hino truck near the junction of Mukobeko Road and the Great North Road.

Her death has sent shockwaves across the church community, particularly among Dorcas workers and members who had gathered for the rally. The incident abruptly disrupted the camp meeting as many attendees left to attend the funeral.

The burial service was attended by a large number of mourners, including church leaders, Dorcas federation representatives from all 31 mission districts, pastors, civic leaders, and community members. The service was officiated by Pastor Ernesto Ricci, Personal Ministries Director for the Northern Zambia Union Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Chisamba Member of Parliament, Honourable Chushi Kasanda, joined church leaders in mourning the late Ms. Kakombo and paid tribute to her dedication and service to both the church and the community.

Among the church leadership present were Midlands East Zambia Conference President, Pastor Darlington Muyabila, and Elder Chipo Miyoba.

Emeria Kakombo is survived by four children. She was laid to rest in an emotional ceremony attended by members from Namunwa Seventh-day Adventist Church, fellow Dorcas workers, and scores of well-wishers whose lives she had touched through her ministry and service.

“Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.” Revelation 14:13:

FAITHFUL STEWARDSHIP: NORTHERN ZAMBIA UNION CONFERENCE HOSTS TRANSFORMATIVE SUMMIT!

On Sabbath, 25 April 2026, the Northern Zambia Union Conference (NZUC), under the Southern Indian Ocean Division (SID), convened a powerful Stewardship Summit at the University SDA Church in Lusaka. Pastors and members from the Midlands East Zambia Conference (MEZC) and Midlands West Zambia Conference (MWZC) gathered in large numbers, united in purpose and mission.

The program was officially opened by Ps. Tommy Namitondo, SID Vice President, who set the tone with a solemn charge: “Stewardship is not a duty we perform occasionally—it is a lifestyle of faithfulness to God.” His words prepared hearts for a day of deep reflection and renewed commitment.

The main speaker, Dr. Liwali Mundia, SID Stewardship Director, addressed the pressing issue of the Malachi offering dilemma. With clarity and conviction, he reminded the church: “Returning to God must be done with honesty and consistency. Faithful stewardship is the backbone of mission.” He further guided participants through the importance of the combined budget system, emphasizing that organized giving strengthens accountability and empowers the church’s mission.

Adding to the spiritual depth, Ps. Mayboy Muchabwe, NZUC Stewardship Director, spoke on generosity as a divine virtue. He declared: “Love is sacrificial in giving. God gave first—John 3:16 reminds us of this eternal truth. As 1 John 4:11 says, we too must reflect that love through action and sacrifice.” His message stirred hearts to embrace generosity as a reflection of God’s character.

The program was smoothly coordinated by Ps. Samakai (MWZC Stewardship Director) and Ps. Nyirenda (MEZC Stewardship Director), whose leadership ensured strong participation and seamless flow throughout the day.

As the summit drew to a close, members left with renewed conviction. The call was clear: to live out faithful stewardship not as a seasonal campaign, but as a lifelong response to God’s love. “Every act of giving is a testimony that we belong to Christ,” one participant reflected, capturing the spirit of the day.
