LISTENING TO THE TRUE VOICE OF THE GOOD SHEPHERD

Today, as we joined Mother Church in celebrating Vocations Sunday, the message felt very personal for us as seminarians. It was a special grace to have our former Vice Rector, Fr. Callistus Kahale Kabindama, preside over the Mass a reminder of the journey others have walked before us and the path we are still walking.

In the homily, Fr. Jameson Chungu spoke in a very real and touching way. He reminded us that the world is full of many voices, all trying to get our attention. But as seminarians, we are called to slow down and truly listen only to the voice of Christ. And that kind of listening is not easy; it needs silence, attention, and a willing heart.
He also challenged us to be honest in our vocation. Not to take shortcuts or pretend, but to enter “through the door,” meaning to live this calling with sincerity and truth. It was a strong reminder that this journey is not about appearances, but about who we are becoming inside.

What stayed the most was the call to change our hearts. That if we really want to follow Christ, then we must allow Him to transform us. So that one day, we may not only recognize Him but He may also recognize us as truly His.
On this Vocations Sunday, the message was simple but deep: listen carefully, walk truthfully, and allow Christ to shape your heart.

Hope in the Midst of Suffering

What looked like defeat on the Cross became the greatest sign of hope for the world.

Yesterday, the community of St. Augustine Major Seminary, Mpima, joined Mother Church in remembering Good Friday. It is a special day when Christians think about the suffering and death of Jesus Christ.

Good Friday shows us how much Jesus loves us. He accepted pain, rejection, and death on the Cross, not because He had no power, but because He trusted God and chose to save us. Even in suffering, He remained calm, humble, and obedient.

This day reminds us that true strength is not in fighting back or using power, but in being patient, humble, and trusting God, especially in difficult times.
The celebration helped the community to pray and reflect deeply. It also reminded everyone that the Cross is not only a sign of suffering, but also a sign of hope and new life.

As a seminary community, this message encourages all to follow the example of Christ by living a life of faith, sacrifice, and trust in God. May the message of Good Friday helps us to grow in love, patience, and faith.
