THINGS TO AVOID DURING PRAYER AND FASTING
Fasting is the abstaining from food while dedicating yourself to God through prayer, worship, meditation, and the study of His Word. Whether you are at work, school, or home, your focus should remain on seeking God. During a fast, avoid anything that can distract you from fully surrendering yourself to prayer and fellowship with Him.
Psalm 35:13 (KJV)
"But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth: I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer returned into mine own bosom."
1. Avoid Watching Television for Long Hours
Use that time for prayer, worship, and reading the Word of God.
2. Avoid Excessive Phone Use
Reduce unnecessary browsing on TikTok, Instagram, Tinder, Facebook, and other platforms.
3. Avoid Spending Too Much Time on Social Media
Social media can easily consume the time meant for seeking God.
4. Avoid Unnecessary Movements and Journeys
Whenever you are free, spend more time in your prayer closet rather than making unnecessary trips.
5. Avoid Spending Only a Short Time in Prayer
If you spend only one hour praying during your fast and the rest of the day occupied with other things, then you have not truly fastedโyou have simply been on a diet.
