During the Pentecost service of the New Apostolic Church in Cape Town, Helge Mutschler was ordained as Chief Apostle. He succeeds Chief Apostle Jean-Luc Schneider, who retired after serving in this ministry for thirteen years at the head of the global Church. The divine service was broadcast worldwide and followed by New Apostolic Christians across the globe.

The transition had been prepared well in advance. As early as Pentecost 2025, Chief Apostle Schneider had assigned Helge Mutschler as Chief Apostle Helper, thereby designating him as his successor.

Chief Apostle Schneider based his sermon on a passage from the first epistle to the Corinthians: “For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body” (1 Corinthians 12: 13). He said that the church is the visible body of Christ and that it bears witness to the presence and work of Jesus Christ among humanity. Christ Himself leads His church, Jean-Luc Schneider said. “Not a single member is superfluous,” he stressed.

Helge Mutschler, born in Tübingen in 1974, holds a doctorate in law. Before entering the service of the Church full-time, he worked as a lawyer and held senior positions within the self-governing body of the tax consultancy profession. He received his first ministerial mandate in 1994. In 2015, then, Chief Apostle Jean-Luc Schneider ordained him as an Apostle. Helge Mutschler is married and the father of two children. Although this ordination marks the beginning of a new chapter for the New Apostolic Church, its mission remains unchanged: to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, to prepare believers for the return of Christ, and to foster the unity of the Church.

Chief Apostle Jean-Luc Schneider had led the international Church since 2013. His ministry was characterized by theological clarification, international cooperation, and a commitment to ensuring that the Church remained centered on Christ in a changing world.

RETIRED PRIEST GEORGE MAPAWA NZALA PUT TO REST

Hundreds of mourners gathered at Nkalya in Naluama to bid farewell to the late Retired Priest George M. Nzala of Simooni, who passed away on Tuesday, 12th April 2026, at the age of 76.

The funeral service was conducted by District Rector Abishy Midukula, who delivered a comforting and encouraging message to the bereaved family and all mourners gathered. His sermon was drawn from Ecclesiastes 3:1–3, reminding everyone that there is a time for everything under heaven, including a time to be born and a time to die.

In attendance were a number of ministers from Simooni (Choma) and Naluama (Lusaka South), who came to mourn and pay their last respects to the departed servant of God. Also present was Apostle Christopher Kaluma of Kalomo, whose presence brought encouragement and comfort to the family and the congregation.

Retired Priest George M. Nzala will be remembered for his faithful service, dedication to God’s work, and commitment to the congregation throughout his ministry.

May the almighty God comfort and strengthen the bereaved family during this difficult time, and may the soul of the departed rest in eternal peace.

PEACE BE WITH YOU|| DIVINE SERVICE|

District Rector Innocent Simamba Conducts a Divine Service at Bethel Congregation.

BY: CURRENT MUDENDA

District Rector Innocent Simamba today visited Bethel Congregation where he conducted a Divine Service. He was accompanied by Assistant District Rector Godfrey Yusiku, the host Congregation Rector Martin Chitumbo, Assistant Congregation Rector James Mwiyi, and other local ministers.
The District Rector Drew his message from John 20:19-20.

“Then, the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, ‘Peace be with you.’ When He had said this, He showed them His hands and His side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord.”

The Divine Service was centered on the Easter message of peace through the risen Christ. District Rector Simamba emphasized that the disciples, though gathered in fear and Insecurity, experienced a profound transformation when Jesus appeared among them and declared, “Peace be with you.”

The sermon highlighted that true peace is found in the presence of Christ and not in the absence of challenges. The wounds of Jesus were presented as a powerful testimony of His sacrifice and the foundation of salvation, affirming that the Crucified and Risen One is the same.

The congregation was reminded that an encounter with Christ brings joy, assurance, and renewed purpose. Just as the disciples were commissioned, believers today are called to proclaim the Gospel and reflect the message of Christ in their daily lives.

During the Divine Service, ADR Godfrey Yusiku, Priest Current Mudenda, ACR James Mwiyi, Priest Voster Phiri, and Congregation Rector Martin Chitumbo served along.

The service was further blessed as four (4) souls were adopted into the fellowship of the New Apostolic Church, marking the significant growth of the congregation.
