And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.

VERSE
Luke 1:30-33 (KJV) And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.
And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.
He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:
And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

INSPIRATION
Talk about pressure! Mary was a virgin and having an unplanned son and has to explain her pregnancy to a husband that will have to believe this fantastic tale. On top of that, he is God incarnate and will rule the Kingdom of David forever! We know how this story goes and are forever indebted to Mary and Joseph for handling this tremendous responsibility with such grace and care. God chose them for a reason, and we can all rejoice that He chose them!

PRAYER
It is better to say nothing than to open our mouths and sin with our words. The more we talk, the more likely we are to say something amiss. The tongue is often the instrument of sin. Better to let our words be few, or to think before we speak. Better to weigh our thoughts before we make them spoken words. Amen

VERSE
Acts 15:35 (KJV) Paul also and Barnabas continued in Antioch, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord, with many others also.

INSPIRATION
When Jesus Christ rose from the dead and ascended to Heaven, he commissioned the disciples and sent them out to share his message with the world. In Antioch, Paul and Barnabas taught and preached the Word of the Lord, as well as many others. This shows us that those who believed in the resurrection followed Christ’s order to share the good news to the ends of the earth. Who will you share the good news with today? Where is God calling you to teach and preach? Ask the Holy Spirit to lead you.

PRAYER
Dear God, we know you have called us to share your good news, but sometimes I am hesitant because I do not feel like I can be a teacher or a preacher. Help me to remember that your disciples were ordinary men who simply chose to follow you and obey your commands. Give me the courage to share your message wherever you send me. Holy Spirit, lead me. Allow me to be your hands and feet on earth and to bring others to know you. In Jesus’ name, amen.

VERSE

Isaiah 9:2 (KJV) The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.

INSPIRATION

Any land without the knowledge of Christ is in deep darkness. And any land that knows about Him but turnes away from that knowledge, snuffs out its own candle and dooms itself to walk in utter darkness. The Gentile nations were all of them lost in utter heathen darkness, but God sent forth the light of the Gospel all around the world to enlighten their darkness and bring life and hope where there had been none.

PRAYER

O Lord Jesus, my life and my heart would be in darkness without you; and my nation would be all darkness, and the whole world complete darkness, without you. Man invents his philosophies and religions which he calls "light," but that is the deepest darkness of all. I praise you that I have seen the true Light and been transformed by it. Amen

VERSE
Isaiah 54:17 (KJV) No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.

INSPIRATION
Whether we think the people addressed in this chapter (and similar chapters) in Isaiah means a future new nation of Israel or the present Church of the New Testament has no bearing on the spiritual lessons and practical applications of truth we can learn from them. We may certainly apply a verse like this to ourselves now as believers. “No weapon...will prosper”– Matt 16:18; Rom 8:37; 1 Cor 15:57; Heb 13:6. “Their righteousness is from me”– 53:11; Acts 13:38-39; Rom 8:33; 1 Cor 1:30; 2 Cor 5:21.
There is nothing the devil tries that will be able to sn**ch you out of God’s hand. He will try to attack you with all kinds of weapons and he will use people to try and bring you down with harsh words and damaging untruths. But none of these attacks of the enemy will ever be able to prevail against you. Not while God, your Father, is still around. Not ever.

PRAYER
Dear God, I thank You for the assurance You have given me that no matter what may happen or come my way, You will always be there to protect me and help me overcome the wiles of the enemy. Lord, I know that the devil will try time and time again to bring me down but I am not shaken, for You are my refuge. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

VERSE

Colossians 1:15 (KJV) Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:

INSPIRATION

Let there be no confusion; Christ was not a typical son as we understand it because He was not distinct from His Father. There comes a time in every normal fathers’ life where He needs to be able to let His children go -often times as they reach adulthood. This was not so for our Almighty Lord, since Christ was simply His word made flesh, the truth of God’s message given a face. So whilst we might call Jesus God’s ‘son’, we would do well to be reminded that this was not a typical relationship, but rather an image of our Lord, the embodiment of our salvation, the Father that was also the Son, bonded through the Holy Spirit.

PRAYER

Lord Almighty I thank you for Your grace, love and continued mercy. For sending Your only begotten Son, You, Your word made flesh for us to hear and understand. May we honor Your sacrifice for us each and everyday, and always remember Your glorious name. Amen.

John 1:18, 20 (KJV) No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.
And he confessed, and denied not; but confessed, I am not the Christ.

INSPIRATION

It is through Christ that we have access to the Father. Jesus Christ made us one with God again when He cleansed us of our sins and justified us and made us righteous. We have been reconciled to the Father, because of our Lord, Jesus Christ. With salvation, we adopted the spirit of adoption, the Holy Spirit, which has enabled us to call God, Father. This gift is eternal; never to end, and never to change.

PRAYER

Dear God, thank you for this new life I live because of your Son, Jesus Christ. I am no longer identified as a sinner, or a fallen man or woman; because of what your Son did for me, I can now boldly say I am your child, O God. Thank you, Lord, for setting me free from the sin power had over my life. I have chosen to be in Christ and I will abide in Him. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

(VERSE)
James 1:12 (KJV) Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

(INSPIRATION)
How blessed, how happy, the man who endures and resists temptation! The trying of his faith will end in life. No temptation or trial seems at the time to be pleasant, but is a cause of distress and discomfort. But God uses even the temptations of the Devil to our ultimate advantage if we are among those who love God and are called according to his purpose (Romans 8:28). When we fall into sin, our weakness is revealed to us, leading us to rely on God instead of on our flesh to uphold us in the future; when we successfully resist evil, God reveals to us the strength he has wrought in us to his own glory.

(PRAYER)
Lord, we know we should never choose to seek out temptation or place ourselves needlessly in a tempting situation. We should pray you would "lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the Evil One (Satan)." But when you choose to allow temptation to come into our lives, we pray we would overcome it. And if we should fall, we pray we would learn from it and you would work it (as all things) to our ultimate good. Amen
