The Anaconda found a sleeping porcupine.... It quickly wrapped itself around the porc. It felt warm, safe, perfect. Then, the porcupine woke up. Its sharp quills rose instantly. The snake felt pain. But instead of letting go, it squeezed even tighter. The tighter it held, the deeper the quills pressed. Still, it couldn't release its grip. It believed holding on would somehow make things better. It didn't. The pain only grew worse. In the end, the snake lost it's life, not because of the porcupine, but because it refused to let go.
In psychology, this is called trauma bonding. Some people stay attached to relationships and positions that keep hurting them. They mistake pain for love, and suffering for loyalty forgetting that the longer they stay and wait, the more they waste their energy and precious time.
Remember this: sometimes the strongest and best thing you can do isn't holding on. It's walking away.
