RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Sunday, 17th December, 2023.
Pastor Chris

🧡COMMUNICATE HIS LOVE🧡

Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers (Ephesians 4:29).

As Christians, we have the Spirit of Christ. We’re the light of the world. We’re to think, love, talk, and conduct all our affairs in life like Him. Colossians 3:17 admonishes us to allow every detail in our lives—our words and actions—to align with the character of Christ:“And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus....”

In other words, the character and presence of Jesus ought to radiate through you in your every day walk. Like Him, let your words be gracious and graceful. Practice the love of Jesus through your words.

People remember you more for the things you said to them and how you made them feel through your words. So, make up your mind that your words will communicate the presence and love of Jesus. Let the world see Jesus in you. Let them feel His love in the words you speak.

In the same way that the Lord Jesus was confident to say, “...If you have seen me, you have seen the Father...”_(John 14:9 CEV); your testimony ought to be, “If you have seen me, you have seen Jesus.” Let Him be who they see and hear when they listen to you.

Never use terrible, abusive and insulting words even if you’re angry. Never be happy that your words made someone else sad. That’s inconsistent with your nature of love. Be like Jesus: the Bible says, _“...And the common people heard him gladly” (Mark 12:37). When people hear you, they should be glad because of your gracious and graceful words of life to them that stir the love for Christ in their hearts.

PRAYER
Dear Father, I thank you for your wisdom that’s in my heart and in my words, and your love that’s seen and heard in me today. Through my words, lives are transformed and improved; those you’ve placed in my path are blessed, encouraged, and edified by my gracious and graceful words, in Jesus’ Name. Amen._*

1 Peter 4:11: If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

Proverbs 16:24: To keep thee from the evil woman, From the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman.

Ephesians 4:29 MSG: ‭ Watch the way you talk. Let nothing foul or dirty come out of your mouth. Say only what helps, each word a gift.

✨SPEAK THE TRUTH✨

That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; [15] but speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ (Ephesians‬ ‭4:14‭-‬15‬)

Proverbs 19:9 says, “…he that speaketh lies shall perish.” A Christian shouldn’t tell lies. Colossians 3:9 says, “Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds.” Telling lies is inconsistent with your nature as a new creation in Christ. You’re a man or woman of truth, because you’re the offspring of Truth: “Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth…” (James 1:18).

Lying is one of the cardinal attributes of Satan. In John 8:44, the Lord Jesus aptly described Satan when He said, “…He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.”

The Word of God is truth (John 17:17). And the Holy Spirit is called the Spirit of Truth (John 16:13).

Now, a liar isn’t merely someone who told a lie but one who loves and makes a lie; he constructs lies (Revelation 22:15); he plans or strategizes his lies. He knows what he is doing is wrong but still goes ahead to do it for selfish reasons.

A liar is also one who speaks contrary to God’s Word. As long as a man’s confessions are inconsistent with God’s Word, they’re lies. 1 Peter 3:10 reveals something instructive; it says, “For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile.” To speak guile is to speak in antithesis to the Word.

The Bible says, "...put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness”_* (Ephesians 4:24). Now that you’re in Christ, you’ve put on the new man; you have the God-nature. Act accordingly. Speak the truth always.

PRAYER
Dear Father, thank you for the Holy Spirit who leads and guides me to walk in truth. Thank you for my new life in Christ; thank you for bringing me into the liberty of the Spirit as I walk in the glory of my new life and nature in Christ, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

💙GRACE, TRUTH, RIGHTEOUSNESS AND PEACE💙

Surely his salvation is nigh them that fear him; that glory may dwell in our land. Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other (Psalm 85:9-10).

In Psalm 85, the Psalmist prophetically shows a significant relationship between salvation and the land. Then, in the 10th verse, he prophetically paints a beautiful imagery: “Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other.” The Hebrew word translated “mercy” is ‘chêsêd, which is often translated as “lovingkindness.”

What we have as lovingkindness in the Old Testament is the equivalent of grace in the New Testament. It represents God’s unmerited favour; and this lovingkindness was often expressed through covenants. The New Living Translation calls it “unfailing love” because it was based on the unbroken covenant God had with His people, making it reliable and trustworthy: “Unfailing love and truth have met together. Righteousness and peace have kissed” (Psalm 85:10 NLT).

The Apostle Paul, in his beautiful discourse in Romans 5, brings this to mind when he said, “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ” (Romans 5:1).

Thus, the psalmist’s prophetic utterance finds fulfilment in us today-the new creation in Christ. In us, grace and truth have met together, righteousness and peace have kissed each other. Blessed be God!

Why is that so important? In those times, they were mostly farmers, and their prosperity often depended on what came out of the land. The Bible says, “Truth shall spring out of the earth; and righteousness shall look down from heaven. Yea, the LORD shall give that which is good; and our land shall yield her increase” (Psalm 85:11-12).

This was how the psalmist could relate with it; and remember, it was still prophetic in his time. This shows the relationship of God’s blessings, salvation and righteousness with the land, that is, your nation or your country; they are key to what happens in the earth. In other words, as a result of grace and truth, righteousness and peace, there will be prosperity, wholeness and wellness in the earth. Hallelujah!

PRAYER
Dear Father, I thank you for the revelation of your Word and the understanding of your righteousness. I walk in the fullness of your grace and truth, righteousness and peace. Therefore, I speak prosperity, peace, justice, progress, wellness and wholeness to my country and the nations of the world, in Jesus’ Name. Amen._

💛THE DEATH-FREE PATHWAY💛

_In the way of righteousness is life; And in the pathway thereof there is no death.(Proverbs‬ ‭12:28‬)_

Though the verse above is in the Old Testament, it lays the groundwork for a principle that extends into the New Testament. It says, _“In the way of righteousness is life…” The righteousness of Christ gave us eternal life. We couldn’t please God, but Jesus did on our behalf.

Remember that Adam disobeyed God and committed high treason against God. But Jesus Christ, the second and last Adam, fulfilled God’s will and on account of His obedience, we’ve been made righteous: “Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous”. (Romans 5:18-19).

Consider again the construction in our opening verse: “In the way of righteousness is life; and in the pathway thereof there is no death.” In the path of righteousness, death has no place; it’s a “death-free pathway.”

The Bible says in Romans 8:2, “For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.”_* The Greek construction here isn’t referring to being delivered from sin as if you were trapped in it, or being rescued or delivered from death as if you were in its clutches. Rather, it’s saying that in Christ Jesus, you’re death-free; there’s no death in you.

The human body is referred to as the “body of death” in Romans 7:24. From the moment a person is born, they carry death within them. Everything is done to prevent the person from dying. This is because humanity inherited the curse of death in the world.

So Paul says, "O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?” (Romans 7:24). The very next verse says, "I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord.”. (Romans 7:25). Jesus provided the solution; the law of the Spirit of life ni Christ Jesus has made us death-free. Praise God!

PRAYER
Dear Father, thank you for the righteousness of Christ by which I have eternal life. Therefore, I walk in righteousness, and in my path, there’s no sickness, infirmity, pain, weakness or death. The law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me death-free. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:
Romans‬ ‭5:18‭-‬21‬: Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: [21] that as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.

♥️PEACE—THE WORK OF RIGHTEOUSNESS♥️

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven (Matthew 5:16).

Isaiah 32:17 says, _“And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance forever.”_ We’re the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus (2 Corinthians 5:21). So, when the Bible talks about the work of righteousness being peace, it’s telling you what you must produce as a result of your nature: your work is to establish peace.

The word “peace” is from the Hebrew “shâlôm” and it refers to the totality of the human welfare—health, prosperity, etc. So, your work is to produce health, prosperity, and peace. Remember the words of the Lord Jesus in John 9:5. He said, _“As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”

He didn’t say those things just to distinguish Himself alone; He said it so we would know to speak accordingly. You’re the bearer of His peace. Places where there had been war, bloodshed, hostilities, and wanton destruction of lives and properties can have peace when you show up, darkness is dispelled and the righteousness of God is established. Hallelujah!

Our God is the God of peace. Therefore, peace in the nations is His will. The Lord Jesus said in John 14:27, “Peace leave with you, my peace l give unto you....” How the world needs this today—the peace that only Jesus gives. We’re the ones to help others and the nations experience this extraordinary life of peace through prayer, the preaching of the Gospel, and our works of righteousness.

1 Timothy 2:1-2 says, _“I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.”That’s it! Peace with extraordinary grace for prosperity, excellence, preservation and rest will mantle the nations and hearts of men as we pray for all men, as we carry out the works of righteousness. So it makes no difference the turmoil, distress and troubles in today’s world; decree peace, health and prosperity for your city and nation.

PRAYER
Dear Father, I’m the expression of your will and nature of righteousness, and I enforce your peace, health, and prosperity wherever I go. I decree peace over my city and nation, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:
Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Romans 5:17 AMPC For if because of one man's trespass (lapse, offense) death reigned through that one, much more surely will those who receive [God's] overflowing grace (unmerited favor) and the free gift of righteousness [putting them into right standing with Himself] reign as kings in life through the one Man Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One).

Isaiah 32:17 AMPC And the effect of righteousness will be peace [internal and external], and the result of righteousness will be quietness and confident trust forever.

💚BORN INTO THE VICTORIOUS LIFE💚

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?... Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. (Romans‬ ‭8:35‭-‬38‬)

You could have trials and challenges, from inflation to economic recession, health issues, family problems, etc. The good news, however, is that it doesn’t matter the challenges you face or the situation in your country, the Word says, in all these things we’re more than conquerors through Christ. This should give you comfort, peace and joy.

Knowing we would encounter challenges in this world, the Lord Jesus assured us of victory when He said in John 16:33, “… be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” Distressing situations abound in all human societies because of man’s fall and failure, but the Word declares “…in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us” (Romans 8:37).

You’ve been lifted over and above the depravities and corrupting influences of this world. Recall our opening verse again; it states clearly that neither tribulation, distress, persecution, famine, nakedness, peril, nor sword can separate us from the love of God, because in spite of them all, we are more than conquerors.

Now, if this meant that you’d conquer no matter what you face in this world, that would have been wonderful. But it means much more than that. It means you’ve gone past conquering, because you conquered in Christ! You’re now living in the victory of Christ!

That means there’s nothing to struggle with or try to overcome anymore, because you’ve already won. Don’t allow the circumstances of life or the economic situation in your country make you a victim. You were born into the victorious life when you were born again.

Now you can understand why the Apostle Paul, in spite of the great persecutions and adversities he faced dismissed them as light affliction: “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory” (2 Corinthians 4:17). Then in Acts 20:24, he said, “…none of these things move me….”

PRAYER
Dear Father, I thank you for the victorious life that I have in Christ! The greater One lives in me; therefore, I live in triumph over circumstances, in total fulfilment, joy, glory and dominion! I reign and rule by your Word, irrespective of what I feel, see, or hear, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

💚DEAL WITH IT WITH THE WORD💚

He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions (Psalm 107:20)

Most times, people become sick when an outside force attacks their bodies. It could be a virus or germ, which is a spirit of infirmity. “Spirit of infirmity” refers to anything from very small entities to sizable spiritual beings; they function alike, but they’re not part of your body. They’re all external forces that can come against (attack) your body.

Whether it’s some bacterial, viral, or a demonic force, you ought to deal with all three of them the same way. You’ve got to repel them; otherwise, they’ll cause harm. You should never be a victim. Jesus said, “…if they (Christians) drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them…” (Mark 16:18). Believe the words of Jesus!

Once any symptom shows up, that’s the time to deal with it with the Word. If you don’t act as radically as you should, the pain could become so excruciating that it becomes difficult for you to pray. Satan’s goal is for you to get weaker and weaker until you’re too weak to pray or make any confession.

You’ve got to act when you still can. The Bible talks about certain characters who lose their appetite for all food due to sickness (Psalm 107:17-18). When people fall sick, it becomes difficult for them to eat, and as a result, they get weaker and weaker towards death.

Don’t wait till you get too weak to pray. Put your faith to work. Meditate on the Word of God. The Word of God is medicine to your physical body (Proverbs 4:22). No wonder our theme verse says, “He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.”

He didn’t send drugs; He sent His Word, because His Word produces healing and health for the sick. No matter how severe the sickness might be, just keep meditating on the Scriptures. Keep affirming your healing and health and before long, the infirmity will be repelled and you’ll come out victorious!

CONFESSION
I refuse to be sick! The Spirit of Him that raised Jesus from the dead dwells in me, and that Spirit has made my body alive. Therefore, I give no place to sickness, disease or infirmity in my body! With the Word of God on my lips, I repel the depravities and negativities of this world and their corrupting influences. Hallelujah!

FURTHER STUDY:
Isaiah 33:24: And the inhabitant shall not say, I am sick: the people that dwell therein shall be forgiven their iniquity.

3 John 1:2: Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

Proverbs 4:20-22: My son, attend to my words; Incline thine ear unto my sayings. [21] Let them not depart from thine eyes; Keep them in the midst of thine heart. [22] For they are life unto those that find them, And health to all their flesh.

Romans 8:10-11 ESV: ‭But if Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness. [11] If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.

✨BUILD AND USE YOUR OWN FAITH✨

And he said unto them, Where is your faith?... (Luke 8:25).

Sometimes, as long as you’re under the cover of someone else, that person may exercise authority over you and your circumstances and it’ll produce results, to a certain degree. For example, as a young Christian many years ago, I went on a trip with a friend of mine and a couple of others. We had some preaching engagements.

This happened at a time when I used to experience serious stomach problems. So while we were on this trip, I wouldn’t eat anything because I would throw up whatever I ate within a few minutes of eating it. I had to watch others eat until my friend, who couldn’t take it anymore, asked me: “Are you fasting?”

I opened up and explained the situation to him and he said to me, “In that case, as long as we’re together on this trip, you’ll not have any problem with your stomach; eat.” I yielded myself immediately to his words, more like riding on his faith, and started eating normally.

And guess what? There was no problem throughout the trip. But when I got back home, the very first thing l’d eat, I threw it all up. The stomach trouble resurfaced. I understood exactly what happened. I submitted myself to my friend’s authority throughout that journey, and it worked.

But there’s just how far such faith can go in helping you deal with life’s issues. I realized I had to put my own faith to work and when I did, I got the victory. You’ve got to keep growing your own faith by increasing your knowledge of the Word and strengthening it by putting it to work. Life is spiritual and you’re responsible for your life—the things that happen with you.

When the disciples ran to Jesus in desperation during the turmoil on the sea, as read in our theme verse, Jesus asked them, “Where is your faith?” He made them realize they could have done something about the situation without necessarily coming to Him.

It makes no difference what has happened or is happening with your finances, job, health or in any area of your life; don’t fret or cry for help! Use your faith. Declare words of faith. The Bible says, “Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear”. (Hebrews 11:3).

With your faith affirmations, you can repair, arrange and reconstruct things and circumstances to synchronize with God’s perfect will for your life.

CONFESSION
It makes no difference what has happened or is happening around me; with the Word of God on my lips, I repair, arrange and reconstruct things in line with God’s perfect will. With my faith, I frame my life in the path of glory and excellence. I’m healthy and strong! Glory to God!

FURTHER STUDY:
Mark 11:23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

Hebrews 10:38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if [any man] draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.

Matthew 17:20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES, DAILY DEVOTIONAL, SATURDAY 18TH NOVEMBER 2023. Pastor Chris

TOPIC: ✨ TONGUES OF PRAISE AND INTERCESSION ✨

For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries (1 Corinthians 14:2)

Recall the account in Acts 10 of Peter ministering in the house of Cornelius. The Bible says…. While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell on all who were listening to the message. And the believers from among the circumcised [the Jews] who came with Peter were surprised and amazed, because the free gift of the Holy Spirit had been bestowed and poured out largely even on the Gentiles. For they heard them talking in [unknown] tongues (languages) and extolling and magnifying God… (Acts 10:44-46 AMPC)

Notice the latter part; the people were praising— extolling and magnifying God—as they spoke in other tongues. When you praise the Lord from your spirit like that, His glory will be manifested in your behalf. Acts 16:25 says Paul and Silas, in prison, prayed and sang praises unto God and as they did, there was a miracle in the prison; they were supernaturally released.

Furthermore, while you're praying in other tongues, besides praise or prophetic revelation, some of those tongues could also be coming forth through your spirit as intercession. This means that at such moments, in the spirit, you're praying for someone or some group; it could be your country, your city, or the Church.

Oftentimes, it could go from speaking in tongues into deep sighs and groanings, and you can't explain it, except the Holy Spirit interprets to you in your understanding what the prayer is about.
These and more could happen as you pray in tongues. Glory to God!

PRAYER
Dear Father, I extol your majesty, for you alone are deserving of all adoration. Your grace knows no bounds, and your mercy knows no end. Your love is immeasurable, and your loving- kindness surpasses understanding. Thank you Lord for your peace, progress and prosperity reign in the nations of the world, in Jesus' Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:
1Corinthians 14:2-4;
For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries. But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort. He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.

1Corinthians 14:14-15
For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful. What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.

💚"ASK, SEEK, KNOCK”.💚

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. (Matthew 7:7).

In our opening verse, the Lord tells us to do three things: To ask, seek, and knock. This seems to suggest a difference between the three of them. When you study the Bible, you’ll clearly see the difference.

Jesus said, “For everyone that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened” (Matthew 7:8). When you ask, it’s either you’re asking God or you’re making a demand on the basis of your faith. Like when the Lord says, “Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession” (Psalm 2:8). He says when you ask, you’ll receive.

In seeking, you’re not asking anybody; you’re actually in pursuit of something. For instance, you may be seeking knowledge or information on a subject matter. You may even be seeking opportunities in a certain industry. He says, “seek, and ye shall find.” Seek, and you’ll get it.

Imagine that you asked the Lord for your community and He gave it to you. Even though you’ve received it in your spirit, you still have to go out as an act of faith to get it. That’s what the Master did: “For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost” (Luke 19:10). As you go out and take your steps by faith, you’ll find what you’re looking for.

“Knock” teaches importunity in prayer. Jesus gave an example of a certain man who had a friend come to him at midnight. He didn’t have bread to give him, so he went to knock on another friend’s door to ask for bread. His friend refused to get up because he and his family had already gone to bed, but the man didn’t stop knocking.

Then, Jesus said, “I say unto you, Though he will not rise and give him, because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him as many as he needeth” (Luke 11:8). Jesus used these three to teach His disciples never to give up, and that faith works.

PRAYER
Dear Father, I’m grateful to know that all the provisions necessary for a fulfilling life and a godly existence have already been made accessible to me through Christ. Therefore, I take advantage of the open invitation to ask anything in the Name of Jesus and receive answers. Amen.
