Title: Building a legacy
Text: Acts 1:1-3
Minister: Bishop Sichone
Introduction: ● Building a legacy is a lifelong journey that involves:* intentional actions,* clear values, or clear teachings / Doctrine and* a focus on making a lasting difference● It's about the choices you make every day and the intentional actions you take to create a positive impact. He built His legacy by what He was doing, and teaching the world has failed to recover from His impactful work and teachings.
1. He created/ Left A Legacy Statement. “Go ye therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father and the Son and of the Holy Spirit, (20) and Teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you....” (Matt.28:19-20). That is why everyone who got saved had to sit at the apostle’s feet. Acts 2:41-42 “Those who accepted his message were baptized, .... (42) They devoted themselves to the apostle’s teachings and fellowship and breaking of bread and prayer.” In the legacy statement, you articulate the impact you want your life to have in the long term.
Jesus didn’t want to leave Society chaos. He passed on a legacy statement. Example: We live on what we produced previous season. That is what is passed on to the next generation.Prov. 13:22 “A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children. (That is generational thinking)
2. He invested His life and teachings in people.● Mentorship, leadership development, and empowering others are key components of a lasting legacy. “What He begun both to Do and Teach.” He had a syllabus to follow. The Apostles kept the syllabus. They said, “that which we heve received, heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us.” You don’t have fellowship with someone who has lost syllabus.
v2) “Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen:” He continued to teach up to the time He was taken from us He commanded these teachings to His followers; That is mentorship. When you know your doctrine / teaching: The following will happen:
Knowing your doctrine improves your discernment It’s a framework for understanding your bible. Provides a solid foundation for effective ministry Doctrine will transform.Your identity Reshape your relationship Redirect your finances.Jesus had a recipe for what He was preparing. A formula to attain a proper follower
That's why they spoke like Him. They did things like Him. Acts 4:13 “When they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marveled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.” Paul said, “If I be not an apostle unto others, yet doubtless I am to you: for you are the seal of my apostleship in the Lord.” You are the manifestation of my work. You are the proof / evidence of my work. Legacy. Paul recognizes that others may reject his apostleship. (Because balilufya signal)
3. Legacy Builders Lead by example:● Your actions, both big and small, shape your legacy.Leave behind a positive footprint:● Your legacy should be a testament to the positive impact you make in the world. Your actions must align with your values / teachings. Consistently model the behaviour you expect. Demonstrate resilience, especially in challenging situations.
Provide space in legacy building.> He sent them two by two to exercise what they had lent.
