Evening Devotion: is the light in you darkness
Text: Matthew 6:23

"But if your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!" — Matthew 6:23 (NIV)

As the day comes to an end, it’s a great time to reflect on our inner life and the spiritual state of our hearts. Jesus’ words in this passage offer a powerful reminder to examine the condition of our inner vision. The "eyes" mentioned here symbolize how we perceive the world, our values, and how we choose to live.

1. Reflect on what you focus on: Are your thoughts centered on God's truth and His light, or have you allowed darkness to cloud your vision through worries, sin, or distractions? Just as a healthy eye brings clarity, a heart aligned with God's will brings light into our lives.

2. Guard your heart: The condition of our hearts is reflected in the way we view the world. If we fill our hearts with bitterness, anger, or unholy desires, darkness can take root within us. But if we focus on love, peace, and the Word of God, His light will guide us.

3. Pray for clarity and vision: Ask God to help you see with spiritual eyes. May He reveal areas of darkness in your life and help you align your heart with His will. Allow His light to illuminate your path and fill you with peace as you rest tonight.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for Your Word that guides us and shows us the truth. Help us to keep our eyes fixed on You, so that our hearts remain full of Your light. As we close this day, we ask that You shine Your light into every area of our lives, revealing anything that needs healing or change. Let Your peace fill our hearts as we rest in You tonight. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Let this passage remind us as we close this day, to ask ourselves: Are we filled with light, or is there darkness that needs to be addressed?

Stay blessed 🙏😇❤️

Afternoon Devotion: "Here is the Patience"

Scripture: Revelation 14:12
"Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus." (KJV)

Reflection:
The Book of Revelation, though filled with vivid imagery and prophetic symbols, offers profound lessons on endurance, faith, and the victorious hope for God's people. In Revelation 14:12, we are introduced to a key virtue required in the lives of believers—patience.

This verse serves as an encouragement to the faithful who face trials, tribulations, and temptations in a world that often stands in opposition to God's will. The patience described in this passage isn't passive or resigned. It is an active, steadfast trust in God's promises, rooted in a deep, unshakable faith in Jesus Christ. This patience is not simply the ability to endure hardships but the willingness to continue following God's commandments and holding on to the faith of Jesus no matter the cost.

The "saints" are those who persevere, even in the face of suffering. They are characterized by two things:

1. Keeping the commandments of God – Their lives are marked by obedience to God's Word. They choose to live by His moral standards, even when it's difficult.

2. Faith in Jesus – Their hope is anchored in the person and work of Jesus Christ. Despite all circumstances, their trust in His redemptive work on the cross remains firm.

In the midst of a chaotic world, patience becomes a powerful witness to others. It reflects the character of God, who is long-suffering and faithful. As believers, we are called to imitate Christ, who patiently endured the cross for the joy set before Him (Hebrews 12:2). Our ability to endure with faith is a testament to God's sustaining grace in our lives.

Application:

1. Persevere in Obedience – Even when challenges arise, remember that the Lord strengthens us to keep His commandments. Do not grow weary in well-doing.
2. Maintain Unshakable Faith – Trust in Jesus.

Morning Devotion: The Danger of Lying Lips

Scripture Reading: Proverbs 12:22 (NIV)
"The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in those who are trustworthy."

Good morning! As we begin this day, let’s reflect on the importance of truthfulness and the consequences of deceit, as highlighted in the book of Proverbs. Our Scripture today tells us that "The Lord detests lying lips." This is a serious matter. God does not take lightly the act of lying. He desires honesty and integrity in His people. To lie is to go against the very nature of God, who is truth (John 14:6).

1. The Heart of God
Proverbs 6:16-19 further elaborates on how much God hates lying:
"There are six things the Lord hates, seven that are detestable to him: ... a lying tongue..."
Lying is so detestable to God that it’s included among the "seven things" He finds most offensive. God values truth, and when we lie, we not only harm others but we also grieve His heart. This truth reminds us of the weight our words carry.

2. The Consequences of Lying
Proverbs 19:5 teaches:
"A false witness will not go unpunished, and whoever pours out lies will not go free."
Lying brings consequences—sometimes immediate, sometimes delayed, but they are always damaging. Lying erodes trust, hurts relationships, and causes harm to those involved. The liar might try to cover up their falsehood, but Proverbs 12:19 reminds us, "Truthful lips endure forever, but a lying tongue lasts only a moment." The consequences of a lie, whether it’s a broken relationship or a loss of credibility, will not be easily undone.

3. The Importance of Truthfulness
Proverbs 16:13 states:
"Kings take pleasure in honest lips; they value the one who speaks what is right."
Those who are truthful are respected and trusted. God’s Word continually encourages us to walk in integrity and speak with honesty. Truth brings peace and stability. We are reminded that truth is not just a moral value but a way of life that brings blessings into our lives.

Distressed by the increasing wickedness of the ungodly, and fearing that their infidelity might lessen his reverence for God, Enoch avoided constant association with them, and spent much time in solitude, giving himself to meditation and prayer. Thus he waited before the Lord, seeking a clearer knowledge of His will, that he might perform it. To him prayer was as the breath of the soul; he lived in the very atmosphere of heaven. PP 85.4

Through holy angels God revealed to Enoch His purpose to destroy the world by a flood, and He also opened more fully to him the plan of redemption. By the spirit of prophecy He carried him down through the generations that should live after the Flood, and showed him the great events connected with the second coming of Christ and the end of the world.
