Copples in Western Cape

Copples in Western Cape Laurie-Ann & Tony fell in love with South Africa while there on an extended Iris outreach. They returned November 2017, and now live in the town of Worcester.

Iris Canada Missionaries to Iris Western Cape. We're bringing the heart of Ottawa, Canada to the heart of the Western Cape, South Africa. Loving latch key kids, orphans, widows, divorcees, peoples in the townships and stopping for the one - wherever we are placed. We'll be starting the Worcester cluster of the Iris Western Cape base. Laurie-Ann used to be the social media assistant to Darren Canning Ministries as well as admin and media at Kingdom Culture Ministries

We just had a special birthday! L-A's dad turned 93 and had a good day. We've had a learning curve in learning to care for a dear one who has mini-strokes, dementia and other issues. But he is part of the reason why we are back in Canada. God has us here on purpose. Tony is also getting good medical care, which is chronicled on another page on our website called "Our Toronto Medical Journeys." Thanks for your prayers, dear friends. We are grateful.

Here is today's Ways to Grow in God article - Growing in God through pain. It includes a link to the podcast page if you want to hear and audio version. Enjoy and God bless you. The drawing is from my chemo days. Instead of intense chemicals, he's receiving a love infusion.

We Copples are in quarantine. We never made it on the flights out of South Africa on December 18th, due to positive covid tests. We are thankful for our friend, who not only took us to Cape Town for the tests (and was to take us to the airport), but he offered his home to us for our quarantine. We aren't sure where we are to go between quarantine and our new flights, or who will take us for new tests and the airport. But we are thankful for now. And we bless those who have reached out to help us. Thank God for you. We will see what unfolds as we are carried back to Canada. L-A wrote a poem to celebrate the moment.

L-A shares about transition in going back to our passport country (Canada) in December. If Canada is like yellow play dough, and South Africa like blue, we are green. Very green. But even though we may feel unsteady in the transition, Jesus is with us, and he is our foundation. We are deeply loved by the Father, and Holy Spirit is our daily guide and joy. He is with us where ever we go.

Tony sometimes gets flashes of wisdom, and after noticing how local township residents handle their lives and troubles, he responds... not in culture shock, but in caring about getting them out of the cycle of poverty. Hope offers a door for promise outside the cycle. Click and read some of Tony's ideas. For an illustration, L-A contributes her drawing of a township family as they gogo danced, sang and worshipped the Lord with her feet in the waves at Strand, while a middle class lady looks on elsewhere.
