A Prayer for Mother’s Day
Father God,
thank You for the gift of mothers, for the women who carried life, nurtured life, protected life, prayed over life, and kept showing up in ways no one else could see.
Thank You for the mothers who love deeply, serve quietly, and give more than they often have. Strengthen every weary mom today. Remind her that her labor is not in vain, and that “the Lord is near to all who call on Him” (Psalm 145:18).
Lord, bless the moms raising babies, toddlers, teenagers, and grown children. Give them wisdom when they do not know what to do, patience when the day feels long, and peace when their heart feels stretched thin. Let them hear Your gentle whisper saying, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9).
And Father, please come close to the tender places today. Be near to the ones who miss their moms. Comfort the hearts that still reach for a voice they can no longer hear. Your Word says You are “close to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit” (Psalm 34:18), so we ask You to be especially close to them today.
Be near to the ones whose relationship with their mom is painful, complicated, or absent. Hold the ache of what should have been. Heal what was wounded. Restore what can be restored. And where restoration is not possible, give peace that passes understanding (Philippians 4:7).
Be near to the women who long to be mothers, the mothers who have lost children, the mothers who feel unseen, and the women who mother in quiet ways without a title. Lord, You see every hidden tear, every silent prayer, every empty chair, every tired hand, and every faithful act of love.
Thank You that You are a Father to the fatherless, a defender of the vulnerable, and the God who places the lonely in families (Psalm 68:5-6). Thank You that Your love is steady when human love has been beautiful, broken, or both. Today, help us honor what is good, grieve what is hard, and receive the comfort only You can give. Cover every mother, every child, every hurting heart, and every grateful heart with Your presence. May we remember that even when earthly love falls short, Your love never fails (1 Corinthians 13:8).
In Jesus’ name, Amen
