*Open Letter to the Church*
*Dear Beloved Church,*
As I sit down to write this letter, my heart is heavy with concern for our community and the direction in which we are heading. What scares me most isn’t that some pastors are lying; it’s that most of you still believe them. This realization weighs heavily on my spirit, and I feel compelled to address it openly and honestly.
*The Nature of Deception*
In recent years, we have witnessed a troubling trend within our churches. Many leaders have resorted to selling products—oil, water, wristbands—promising miraculous results in exchange for your faith and financial contributions. These items are marketed as conduits of divine favor or blessings, yet they often serve only to enrich those who promote them. It is disheartening to see so many of you continue to buy into these schemes without questioning their validity or the intentions behind them.
The manipulation does not stop at merchandise. Emotional appeals have become a staple in many sermons, where rehearsed prophecies and dramatic performances overshadow the true message of the Gospel. Pastors twist scripture to suit their greed, crafting narratives that lead you away from biblical truth while eliciting enthusiastic “Amens” from the congregation. This is not merely a matter of poor teaching; it is a deliberate act of deception that exploits your trust.
*The Role of Discernment*
It is crucial for each one of you to understand that defending these practices only perpetuates the cycle of exploitation. When you protect those who lie and manipulate, you inadvertently contribute to an environment where truth is obscured by falsehoods. The alarming reality is that many among us equate material wealth with spiritual favor, leading us to celebrate those who enrich themselves at our expense.
This phenomenon can be likened to spiritual hypnosis—a state where discernment is dulled, and critical thinking is abandoned in favor of blind loyalty. You may think you are following God, but in reality, you are following ritualists and charismatic conmen dressed as shepherds. This misalignment poses a grave danger not only to your spiritual well-being but also to the integrity of our church as a whole.
*A Call for Awakening*
We must ask ourselves: How did we even get here? How did we arrive at a point where truth becomes offensive while lies are celebrated? It is deeply troubling that poverty is often blamed on “not sowing enough seeds,” suggesting that your financial struggles stem from a lack of faith rather than systemic issues or personal circumstances. Suffering has been mischaracterized as evidence of weak belief rather than a natural part of life’s journey.
I urge each one of you to wake up! God has given you both a brain and a Bible—use both wisely. Spiritual ignorance should never be mistaken for loyalty; instead, it leads only to bo***ge. We must reclaim our ability to discern truth from deception and hold our leaders accountable for their teachings.
*Conclusion*
As a pastor, I implore you not just to accept what is presented from the pulpit without scrutiny but rather engage with scripture critically and thoughtfully. Let us strive together towards genuine faith rooted in truth rather than blind allegiance based on emotional manipulation or charismatic performances.
In Christ's love,
Pastor Abe Davids
