AFM Theological College Officially Registered as a Private Higher Education Institution
Pretoria, Gauteng: For Immediate Release (19 February, 2026)

The AFM Theological College proudly announces a historic milestone: the College has been officially registered as a Private Higher Education Institution by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET). This achievement marks the culmination of years of rigorous work, sacrifice, prayer, and perseverance, positioning AFM Theological College to offer its own fully accredited Bachelor of Theology (BTh) degree at NQF Level 7.

With this registration, the AFM Theological College (AFMTC) enters a new chapter of ministry and leadership development, now empowered to:

🎓 Offer a degree programme that reflects the AFM’s unique DNA, doctrine, ethos, and values.
🎓 Shape the next generation of pastors, leaders, and ministers for South Africa and the global Church.
🎓 Direct theological training with academic excellence, relevance, and spiritual depth.
🎓 Equip leaders for effective, Holy Spirit-led ministry, both locally and internationally.

AFMTC extends its deepest gratitude to AFM leadership, consultants, staff, and the entire AFM family for their unwavering support, faithful prayer, and encouragement throughout this journey. Special appreciation is extended to Pastor Nico Nell, Professor Willie Wessels, and Dr. Chris De Wet, whose tireless dedication and commitment were instrumental in achieving this milestone.

As AFMTC moves forward, it does so with unshakeable faith, renewed confidence, and great anticipation, committed to training spiritually rooted leaders who will transform South Africa and impact the world.

// THE AFM OF SA SPEAKS ON THE CRL’S CALL FOR REGULATION ➡📝

“The Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM) has carefully reviewed the Cultural, Religious and Linguistic Rights Commission's (CRL’s) renewed call for the regulation of religion. While we recognise the CRL’s important constitutional role in protecting and promoting cultural, religious, and linguistic rights, we are deeply concerned about several of its proposals.

Our response is rooted in a strong belief in the constitutional right to freedom of religion, freedom of association, and the independence of the Church from State control.

The CRL’s proposal to create a so-called “self-regulatory system” in which it would act as the final authority or appeals body is not acceptable. This system would, in practice, give the State the power to decide what qualifies as a religion, who is recognised as a religious leader, and even what places may be used for worship. It would also force churches and religious organisations to belong to State-approved umbrella bodies.” – The National Office Bearers of The AFM of SA.
