Question:
What is the ruling on wearing a taweez (amulet)?
Answer:
In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful.
Peace and blessings be upon you, O Messenger of Allah ﷺ.

➤ If a taweez does not contain any words of shirk (polytheism) but includes Quranic verses and supplications mentioned in Hadith, and the wearer does not believe the taweez has a real effect but considers it a means, then wearing it is definitely permissible. This is proven from the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them).

➤ Hazrat Sayyidna Muslim (may Allah have mercy on him) in Sahih Muslim states:
_"There is no harm in ruqyah (spiritual healing) as long as it does not contain shirk."_

➤ Hazrat Sayyidna Auf bin Malik Ashja’i (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates:
_In the time of ignorance, we used to treat ourselves with taweez. We asked the Messenger ﷺ about this; he replied, "Present to me the words written on your taweez, and if there is no shirk in it, then there is no harm."_
