The Death, Divine Blood, The Passover And The Resurrection Of Jesus Christ
God gave Moses instruction to free the Israelites from Egypt. Moses conveyed the instruction to Pharaoh several times but Pharaoh denied continuously. Every time he denied to do as God instructed him the people of Egypt would be smitten with different plagues. As Pharaoh persisted to harden his heart, God gave instruction to Moses to tell the congregation of Israel to take for themselves every man a lamb without blemish, to kill it and take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of their houses. They had to do all this as it was a time of the Lord’s Passover in Egypt. The Israelite's did as God instructed. God gave them this instruction because he was going to pass through the land of Egypt to smite the firstborns of the Egyptians with great destruction. He told them that the reason they should cover their houses with the blood of the lamb is that when he sees it he will pass over them (Exodus 12:12-14). This means there would not be a Passover to one's life without carrying the blood of the lamb but only to those who have it in the houses. The lamb had to die for the power of the blood to be revealed and experienced. A Passover (grace of deliverance from generational curse and eternal death) from God's anger occurred to those who believed and lived according to his will but not to the unrepentant souls. A Passover occurred to the Israelite's and a Pass-through happened to the Egyptians. The Lord's Passover in Egypt came as God's judgement and punishment towards rebellious people who lived against his will but as deliverance to those who believed and carried out his will, “that ye shall say, ‘It is the sacrifice of the Lord's Passover, who passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt when He smote the Egyptians and delivered our houses.’” And the people bowed their heads and worshiped.” - Exodus 12:27. The Passover shows us the importance of sacrificial atonement carried out by Jesus Christ. He died as a Lamb on the cross for the sins of all men. His blood was shed as a sign of deliverance and protection from eternal condemnation and death but eternal life through him (John 3:16).
Resurrection of Jesus Christ
“And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed about this, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments.
5 And as they were afraid and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, “Why seek ye the living among the dead?
6 He is not here, but is risen! Remember how He spoke unto you when He was yet in Galilee” Luke 24:4-6
Mary Magdalene and Joanna and Mary the mother of James went to look for the body of Jesus Christ at the tomb but could not find it. They met angels that told them that Jesus Christ is not in the tomb (sepulcher), but he has risen. They recalled what he said about his death and resurrection and proclaimed this miracle to the apostles who did not believe them at first. Jesus had to go through death to live beyond it (by resurrection) and not to remain in it. This is a prove that death never had power over him from the beginning until current because it could not contain him in Hades - Luke 24:7. When Jesus died on the cross he was taken to be with the Father (in Paradise) and when he rose from the dead (soul converged with the flesh) he was awoken by the Spirit of God, “But if the Spirit of Him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, He that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by His Spirit that dwelleth in you.” - Romans 8:11. The path that Jesus took from death to ressurection is a path he took to pave a way for all believers to go through what he also went through. His victory is our victoy, “In every way we’re troubled but not crushed, frustrated but not in despair, 9 persecuted but not abandoned, struck down but not destroyed. 10 We are always carrying around the death of Jesus in our bodies, so that the life of Jesus may be clearly shown in our bodies. 11 While we are alive, we are constantly being handed over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that the life of Jesus may be clearly shown in our mortal bodies. 12 And so death is at work in us, but life is at work in you. 13 Now since we have the same spirit of faith in keeping with this Scripture: “I believed, and so I spoke,” we also believe and therefore speak. 14 We know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus will also raise us with Jesus and present us to God together with you.” - 2 Corintians 4:8-14. His ascension to be with the Father is a prove of the same ascension of believers to be with the Lord in life after death. The Word of God tells us that when a believer in Jesus Christ dies his soul / spirit is taken to heaven to rests with God while his body remains in the grave, “We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord.” - 2 Corinthians 5:8. The soul awaits the day of resurrection to be reunited with the body for a new earth of God's glory. The unity of believers with God in paradise shows the prime importance of having faith in Jesus Christ and it also reveals assurance of eternal life in him (Luke 23:43). On the other side when an unbeliever dies his soul is taken to a temporary place of judgement and anguish, “The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried. 23 In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side.” - Luke 16:22-23. Ascension of believers after death proves that their souls are not found amongst the dead in Hades or Sheol but they are found alive in heavenly realm with God Almighty. As Jesus Christ was not found amongst the dead but to a divine life with the Father, believers too can't be found amongst the dead but in God's glory. Why do you look for the living among the dead?
