Statement on the Clinic Day at Theo Mareka Memorial AME Church

Following the powerful message preached from the pulpit titled “There Is Grace at the Altar” from Isaiah 6:1–8 by our Pastor, Theo Mareka Memorial AME Church witnessed grace not only proclaimed, but demonstrated in action.

On our first Clinic Day, 32 people were consulted, marking a significant milestone in our church’s outreach and holistic ministry. Just as the burning coal touched Isaiah’s lips at the altar and brought cleansing and commissioning, we experienced God’s grace touching lives through compassionate healthcare and service.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Health Committee for their dedication, coordination, and servant leadership in making this day possible. Your commitment reflects the spirit of Isaiah’s response: “Here am I, send me.”

We also express sincere appreciation to Dr Mathe for rendering medical services pro bono. Your generosity and professionalism are a living testimony of grace at work beyond the pulpit and into the community.

Indeed, there is grace at the Altar. grace that forgives, grace that restores, and grace that sends us out to serve.

To God be the glory for what He has begun among us.

I, Rev. Percy Mogakwe of Theo Mareka Memorial AME Church, extend heartfelt words of comfort and solidarity to all families, schools, and community members affected by the tragic accident that claimed the lives of scholars in Vanderbijlpark and the greater Vaal region. Our hearts are heavy, and we mourn deeply with those who mourn.

The Word of God assures us that “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” (Psalm 34:18)

In this moment of profound grief, we entrust the souls of the departed children into the loving care of God.
I pray for God’s comforting presence to surround the bereaved families, classmates, and educators, and for healing and strength for the injured. May the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, guard every broken heart.

I also humbly appeal to our communities to act with compassion and dignity by refraining from sharing pictures, videos, or graphic content related to this tragedy. Such material deepens the pain of grieving families and robs them of the privacy and respect they deserve.

As the Church, and as a community of faith in Boipatong and the Vaal, let us choose empathy over curiosity, prayer over publicity, and care over commentary.

May God grant comfort to the afflicted, rest to the departed, and wisdom and unity to our communities during this painful time.

“Even though we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, the Lord is with us.”

May their soul Rest in Peace.

May this season remind us of the greatest gift Jesus Christ, our hope, peace, and salvation.
As we celebrate with family and friends, may our homes be filled with love, reconciliation, gratitude, and renewed faith.
We pray that the joy of the Lord will be your strength, that His peace will guard your hearts, and that the coming year will be marked by purpose and blessing.

From my heart and the leadership of the church, we wish you a blessed Festive Season and a Christ filled New Year.

Grace and peace.

Our church family gathered in the park for a meaningful time of worship, fellowship, and thanksgiving as we reflected on God’s faithfulness throughout the year 2025. In the midst of nature, our pastor shared a powerful devotion from Psalm 124:7, titled “God Kept Us.”

The message reminded us that, like a bird escaping from the snare of the fowler, we too have been preserved by the hand of God. Through challenges seen and unseen, trials known and unknown, the Lord kept us, protected us, and sustained us. It was not by our own strength, but by God’s grace and mercy, that we stand today.

As we lifted our voices in worship and our hearts in gratitude, we gave thanks to God for His covering, His deliverance, and His unfailing presence throughout the year. Indeed, our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.

🙌🏽 To God be all the glory for keeping us in 2025.

Beloved, today we pause to raise awareness about HIV and AIDS. As a church, we are called to be a place of love, compassion, and understanding.

Many in our communities are affected, and some suffer silently because of stigma.Let us choose the heart of Christ, welcoming, supporting and standing with all who live with HIV. Let our words bring healing, not harm.

We encourage everyone to seek, knowledge, get tested, and support one another with dignity. We pray for strength for those affected, comfort for families, and an end to stigma.
May our church be a safe place where hope, truth, and love guide us.
Amen.

The Rev Percy Mogakwe
