Theme: Growth
Sub-theme: The Authentic Signs of Spiritual Growth (10)
SERVING THE INTERESTS OF THE KINGDOM
References: Luke 2:46β52; Acts 9:6; Mark 10:51
As we grow spiritually, we often begin with this question:
βLord, what do You want me to do?β
This happens because we start to feel a burden for the Kingdom. We develop a deep interest in the things of God. In reality, no one can truly be a child of God without being concerned about the interests of the Kingdom.
The apostles often used this expression:
βZeal for Your house consumes meβ (Psalm 69:9; John 2:17).
As we grow, this zeal becomes real and tangible. It is an inner fire, sometimes difficult to explain. At this stage, people may no longer recognize us. The faith of a zealous believer may even appear as foolishness.
As it is written in 1 Corinthians 1:25:
βFor the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.β
We begin to do things for God that few people understand. Only the One we serve can truly understand us. This is what the Bible calls zeal for the house of God.
When this flame burns within us, it acts like fire on goldβit purifies. From that moment, we no longer live to do our own will, but we become attentive to God, continually asking:
βLord, what do You want me to do?β

The Two Dimensions of βWhat Do You Want Me to Do?β
In the journey of growth, there are two levels:
1. The First Level:
This is when a believer reaches a certain maturity and asks God, like Saul:
βLord, what do You want me to do?β (Acts 9:6).
2. The Second Level:
This is when you touch the heart of God. This time, it is God who asks you:
βWhat do you want Me to do for you?β
As in the case of Bartimaeus (Mark 10:51).
At this level, God acts on your behalf because your faith has reached true maturity.

Identifying the Interests of the Kingdom
You cannot serve the interests of the Kingdom without first identifying them.
You must know Godβs priorities before committing to them.
Jesus Himself said:
βDid you not know that I must be about My Fatherβs business?β (Luke 2:49)
He was not speaking about His earthly father, but about His heavenly Father.
Heaven has interests, and every child of God is called to serve them. This is one of the main reasons for our presence on earth.
The failure of a Christian is not in not building a house or not traveling the world.
The true failure is to live and die without having served the interests of the Kingdom.

What Are the Interests of the Kingdom?
1. The spread of the Gospel
Proclaiming the Good News and winning souls for the Kingdom of God.
(Matthew 24:14)
2. Establishing Godβs righteousness
Living and acting in a way that manifests divine righteousness on earth.
(Romans 14:17)
3. Manifesting the reign of Christ
Living in a way that reflects the Kingdom of God in our daily lives.
(Matthew 6:9β10)

Conclusion
Authentic spiritual growth leads every believer to discern their time and understand their priorities.
And for every Christian, the priority remains clear:
to serve the interests of the Kingdom of God.
For Jesus Christ is coming soon.
May God bless you.
