On Thursday, 13 August 2015 Catholic Development Centre held its Annual General Meeting at Ikhwezi Lokusa Rehabilitation Centre Hall in Mthatha, Eastern Cape, South Africa. 89 people attended. These were 69 females and 20 males from as far as Lusikisiki, Libode, Ngqeleni, Matatiele and also Mthatha. These were smallholder farmers, CDC staff and partner organisations. When delivering his report, CDC Board Chairperson Mr Marting Molefi highlighted challenges faced by CDC and NPO's at large. He also called to observe a moment of silence for Sr Mary Jo Tucke popular known as Sr Mary Paule who served as CDC Treasurer until June 15 when her car was hijacked on 14 June 2015 and her lifeless body was found floating in a river of 15th June of the same year.

CDC director, Mr Thembekile Kanise told the meeting that their efforts contribute to a triple challenge cited by South African president HE JZ Zuma, as challenges facing South Africa. These are Poverty, Unemployment and Inequality. CDC has a staff complement of 116.

A group of young people from Mthatha formed an organization called Make A Difference (MAD). Yesterday they visited our organization and wished to partner with us. We agreed. Their first initiative was to collect and donate 23 blankets to most deserving people of Umthatha. Well done MAD fellows. Youth follow in the footsteps of this group. Siyabonga.

At CDC we work with disadvantaged people who need food, clothes, shelter and daily essentials. You can do something with us.
