Lord God, On the Sabbath, Jesus rested. He was in the grave. He had finished his work. To most peopleā€™s eyes, It looked as if it were all over. He was dead and buried. But only as a seed dies when it is planted in the earth, Not to decay, but to spring to new life. Teach us to take refuge in you when we are afraid; Teach us that death is not our end Teach us to hope always in you And in the resurrection, the making of all things New. DAVID WAS ANOINTEDā€¦ AND THEN HE WAITED.

Thatā€™s the part people donā€™t like to talk about.

In 1 Samuel 16, David is anointed king by Samuel.
Oil is poured.
God chooses him.
The calling is confirmed.

But hereā€™s what most people miss:

He didnā€™t become king the next day.

Not the next week.
Not the next year.

It was about 15 years before David ever sat on the throne.

And those 15 years werenā€™t comfortable.

They were process.

After the anointing, David went right back to the field.

Then to serving.

Then to war.

Then to running for his life.

Because the same man he was called to replaceā€¦

Saulā€¦ was trying to kill him.

Think about that.

David was chosen by Godā€¦

but hunted by man.

He had the promiseā€¦

but not the position.

He had the oilā€¦

but not the throne.

And hereā€™s where it gets even deeper.

There were moments when David had the opportunity to kill Saul.

1 Samuel 24
David is in a caveā€¦ Saul walks inā€¦ and David could have ended everything right there.

But he doesnā€™t.

Why?

Because David understood something many people today donā€™t:

Just because youā€™re calledā€¦ doesnā€™t mean you skip process.

David says:

ā€œI will not stretch out my hand against the Lordā€™s anointed.ā€

Even though Saul was wrong.
Even though Saul was chasing him.
Even though Saul was trying to kill him.

David refused to take what God promisedā€¦

out of Godā€™s timing.

Now letā€™s bring this to today.

We have people who go live one timeā€¦

and call it a ministry.

Start a pageā€¦

and call it a calling.

Get a few viewsā€¦

and think theyā€™re ready to lead people.

No process.
No pruning.
No character development.
No submission.
No wilderness.

Just platform.

But hereā€™s the truth:

God doesnā€™t just call youā€¦ He prepares you.

The Hebrew word for anointing is מÖøשַׁח (mashach)
which means to set apart for a purpose.

But being set apartā€¦

does not mean being sent out immediately.

There is a gap between anointing and assignment.

And that gap is called:

Process.

David wasnā€™t just being delayed
