With Jesus Christ, there is always hope for healing.

In the Book of Mormon, we learn about a man named Alma who was consumed by guilt and despair. But as he turned to the Savior, he experienced a miraculous healing and was able to find peace and redemption. No matter how impossible your situation may seem, Jesus Christ can heal all wounds and bring light to even the darkest of places.

Faith is an antidote for fear.

When Christ’s disciples were facing a storm on the sea, they turned to Him, scared they were going to die. What was Christ’s response? “Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith?” (Matthew 8:26)

We will all face storms in our lives, but we have no need to fear. The Book of Mormon teaches us, “When the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, … when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you … because of the rock upon which ye are built” (Helaman 5:12).

How can you face the storms in your life with faith?

When Alma visited the city Antionum, he observed the Zoramites only prayed once a week and repeated the same prayer each time they prayed. Christ teaches us in 3 Nephi 13:7, “But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions.”

Prayer is a sacred time to connect to your Heavenly Father. Open your heart and mind, and share the sincere desires of your heart with Him. As you sincerely pray to Him, you can find peace and clarity, and you can feel His love for you each day.

How can we avoid vain repetition in our prayers and make them more sincere?

“Our Savior, Jesus Christ, directs our feet to meetinghouses each week to partake of His sacrament, to the house of the Lord to make covenants with Him, to the scriptures and teachings of prophets to learn of His words. He directs our mouths to testify of Him, our hands to lift and serve as He would lift and serve, our eyes to see the world and each other as He does. … And as we allow Him to direct us in all things, we receive testimony that ‘all things denote there is a God’ [Alma 30:44], because where we look for Him we will find Him—each and every day.” — Sister Tracy Y. Browning, general conference, Oct. 2022

Ruth lost her husband, and Hannah struggled with infertility. Yet these women moved forward with faith, making covenants with God and taking action to improve their lives. Their faith and perseverance were rewarded when Ruth married Boaz and Hannah gave birth to the prophet Samuel.

Maybe you have also suffered a heartbreaking loss or mourned a righteous desire that hasn’t been fulfilled. It can be hard to trust the Lord when we don’t understand His ways. But just like He guided Ruth and Hannah through impossible hardships, God will help us when we put our trust in Him.

“And I have been supported under trials and troubles of every kind, yea, and in all manner of afflictions; yea, God has delivered me from prison, and from bonds, and from death; yea, and I do put my trust in him, and he will still deliver me” (Alma 36:27).

Can you think of a time when you trusted God and He helped you get through a difficult trial?

“Make no mistake about it: Your potential is divine. With your diligent seeking, God will give you glimpses of who you may become.

“So who are you? First and foremost, you are a child of God, a child of the covenant, and a disciple of Jesus Christ. As you embrace these truths, our Heavenly Father will help you reach your ultimate goal of living eternally in His holy presence.” —President
