Tembisa-Mahon Evangelical Church of Southern Africa

Tembisa-Mahon Evangelical Church of Southern Africa Mahon Evangelical Church of South Africa (MECSA) established in the year 1904. We have been part of HISTORY OF MECSA TEMBISA 1969-2015 · COMPILED BY Rev. Rev.

D.V Motaung As we read the Bible we learn that they take note of starting point that is why they were able to see how far God had helped them. They learn to appreciate God and measure the progress. Rev Mgogodla was a Minister in Alexandra Township. In 1969 there was group relocation from Alexandra to Ntshonalanga Tembisa. At that time there was no Mahon Church, the families of Mr Gideon Mbatha, Mr

s Gideon Dlamini and George Ngomane started to meet during the week and on Sundays they met at Mfuyaneni School. After sometime; Mlambo family, Ngema Family, Siluma family, Kekana family, Mam Khanye and many more joined the church. Sis Busi Simelane and Bro Reggie Makhubu as youth of that time they preached the Gospel at school. In 1979 Tembisa church counsel requested Makhekhe, Jabulane and Rev Mthibi to discuss the issue of not having the Minister from 1969 to 1979. Ev Khuzwayo from Diepkloof branch was deployed to Tembisa to help. From 1986 to around 2006/2007, Tembisa east moved from Inxiweni Primary School to Inqayizivele Secondary then to Tembisa High School. Tembisa was part of Diepkloof Circuit until around 1990. Rev Majola and Rev Sipho Sokhela who was a probationer at that time, were pastoring Tembisa. This was also the time Tembisa had a split into Tembisa East and West (Mr Siluma, Mr Simelane, Mr Ngomane ,Rev Ntshingila, Mam Ngema and others) mid 80's. After the split, Tembisa West found a school called Nyiko Primary for their Sunday services. The school was not far from Inxiweni Primary which Tembisa occupied before the split. The split left only five families (Mr Makhubo,Mr Khoele, Mr Khanyile, Mr Mbatha and some few remained). It was also during this period when Tembisa and Alexander were taken away from Diepkloof Circuit to become a Alexander Tembisa circuit. Malele became the Minister of Alexandra Circuit around 1995. Tembisa east grew as a branch. When Rev R. Makhubo finished school, he served under Rev. Malele. Tembisa east was now in Inqayizivele Secondary School. Rev Malele retired and we remained with Rev Makhubo who subsequently left the Church around 1999. Rev Matlala was deployed to Tembisa in 1999-2002 and it was during his time that Tembisa east moved to Tembisa High. Although Rev Malele retired, he still remained within the Circuit. When they were still in Tembisa High, God blessed them with the stand they are now occupying. This stand was also a blessing in the sense that a miracle happened in the Tendering process. What happened was that, as they were told later, the stand was given to some Pastors that are brothers who had also tendered for the two stands that were also tendered for. Sometime later when the allocation was done, the tender committee had a re-look awarding decision and said that two stands cannot be given to one and the same person (which actually was the two brothers mistaken for one person) and therefore the other stand should be given to number two in the list which was (Mahon Tembisa) that was 2004 - 2006. Some of the elders who left during the split came back and rejoined Tembisa East, the original Tembisa branch. In 2008 Tembisa started with the foundation. Rev Band, who is now Rev Matlala, stayed with Tembisa until 2008. In 2008, Rev Tshabalala and Rev Chakale who was probationer were sent to Tembisa. Rev Tshabalala stayed until 2010. Rev Chakale took over from 2010 until the first quarter of 2011. When they were deployed to Tembisa, the branch had long moved into the stand in 2007 Maokeng section Tembisa. Tembisa stayed without a minister until Rev Motaung was introduced in November 2011. It should be noted that it was not the first time Tembisa stayed without a minister, the branch had longer periods before without a Minister. Rev Motaung is still overseeing the Church. Tembisa produced Pastors Ps Gidoen Dlamini, Bishop R. Makhubo, Ps Ngomane,Rev Khanye and Rev. Khanyile

Ukuthula kweNkosi Yethu uJesu Kresthu makuvame kithi sonke!!

On the 4th of September 2022 we started a journey; trusting the LORD for Gospel shaped Renewal as we journeyed through the book of Galatians. This journey has not been without its challenges but the Lord remains faithful. We have enjoyed engaging the community with the gospel, praying and reading through this life changing epistle.
Tomorrow we are looking at the culmination of what the gospel does in shaping community and how that community ought to be in dealing with
- Various disciplinary challenges, -Generous expressions of kindness -Perseverance with Christ focussed humility.

It’s a new year and we are still trusting God for GOSPEL RENEWAL. Tomorrow we are digging into what it looks like to Live By the Spirit as we dig into Galatians 5:16-26.

We are trusting God for the completion of this house of worship and fellowship where the Word of God will be preached for many years to come. We are trusting God for the many more souls that will be added to the Church in Alexandra.

“But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.”
-Micah 7:7
