PEACE BE WITH YOU:

ON Sunday, 12 April 2026, our Rector Priest Clinton Thomas conducted the Divine Service in our Strand South Congregation.

The service was based on the bible text John 20:19-20, which says:

“On the evening of that first day of the week, the disciples were gathered behind closed doors, filled with fear and uncertainty. Then, in the midst of their anxiety, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.”

Message:
An encounter with the Risen One brings peace and security.

What a powerful reminder that no door is too closed, no situation too difficult, and no fear too overwhelming for the presence of the Lord. Even when we feel afraid or unsure, Jesus meets us right where we are bringing peace, comfort, and reassurance.

After the celebration of Holy Communion, the congregation also shared in the 25th Wedding Anniverdry blessing of Retired Priest Jonathan Du Preez and his wife Rucia.

After the divine service, the Rector and the couple took time to greet the congregation.

On Sunday, 01 March 2026, Rector Priest Clinton Thomas conducted the Divine Service for the Departed at the Strand South Congregation. Priest Kenneth Manuel was called to serve along.

The Bible text forming the basis of the sermon was taken from John 11:43. Now when He had said these things, He cried with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come forth!”

Message:
Through faith in Jesus Christ, both the living and the dead experience salvation.

A beautiful and moving sound filled the hall through our orchestra and choir — a sacred harmony carrying both remembrance and hope.

We were reminded that Jesus stands at the grave, not distant from our sorrow, but close to those who mourn. He is not absent. He is present. At the grave of Lazarus, we see the compassionate heart of Christ — calling life out of death.
Sometimes the tomb represents the darkness we find ourselves in — bitterness, resentment, anger, unwillingness to forgive. Yet God comes and calls us into His light. He brings freedom. The voice of Jesus was heard then, and it is still heard today — here and into the beyond.
We are called to prepare for eternal life. With God, everything is possible — beyond our human understanding. The future holds unknowns, but we remain in faith, trusting that God Himself will come to fetch us.

The divine service was concluded with the majestic sounds of the choir and organ, rendering the well-known hymn, “How lovely is Zion”.

We also celebrated the birthday of our Rector, the faithful leader of our congregation. We thank God for his guidance and shepherd’s heart, and pray continued blessings, wisdom, and strength upon his life.

On Wednesday, 18 February 2026, Priest Branwill Waterboer conducted the midweek divine service at Strand South Congregation. The service took the form of a Bible study, focusing on the comforting and encouraging words of Hebrews 2:18: “For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted.”
In his sermon, Priest Waterboer emphasized the profound significance of Christ’s suffering and temptation. He reminded the congregation that because the Lord Himself endured trials, He is not distant from our struggles but fully understands them. His victory over temptation assures believers that they are never alone in their own battles, and that divine help is always near.
The Scripture reading for the evening was taken from Hebrews 4:14–18 and was read by Deacon Winston Willemse. These verses further highlighted Christ as our compassionate High Priest, who sympathizes with our weaknesses and invites us to approach the throne of grace with confidence to receive mercy and find grace in time of need.

On Sunday, 15 February 2026, Rector Priest Clinton Thomas conducted a divine service at the Strand South Congregation.

The Bible text forming the basis of the sermon was taken from James 2:15-16: “If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them, ‘Depart in peace, be warmed and filled’, but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit”?

What a truly beautiful and blessed service we experienced.

Last year, our congregation was gifted with a trombone — and today we truly heard and felt the fruits of that blessing within our orchestra. The sound was rich, uplifting, and a reminder that every gift sown in faith produces something beautiful in its season. 🎶

We also warmly welcomed and reinstated the mandate of Deacon Dylan Augustus. May his service continue to be guided with wisdom, humility, and strength. We are grateful for the leadership and dedication poured into our congregation.

It was also a joy to introduce and welcome a new family into our church community. May they feel at home, supported, and embraced as part of our spiritual family.

Sunday School continued with joy and learning, and thereafter our youth will be hosted for their service — such a blessing to see the next generation stepping forward with confidence and faith.

Our hearts are full. We are thankful for every blessing, every servant heart, and every family that makes our congregation what it is.
