Igniting a generation in worship and service of the Father! We started as a handful of families madly in love with Jesus our Saviour, who were desperately seeking an authentic, Bible-based expression of the Church of Jesus Christ. We believe that Christ Jesus is the head of The Living Room Church – HE IS LORD! As such, our standard for church governance is the example and the guidelines set out in
Bible – we are not willing to compromise this stand for anyone or for the sake of popularity. We believe in submission to Biblically-qualified Church leadership. We believe that, contrary to popular practice in many churches today – the Church is not meant to be a business – WE ARE THE FAMILY OF GOD! People will not be treated merely as numbers. At The Living Room we believe that we are called to be the Church – not just attend it! We believe in that every regenerated believer in Christ is called into ministry in some form. We encourage all members to be involved in some form of service. God did not call us to warm pews! We believe that if we would follow Christ, we are to deny ourselves and take up our cross - it is expected of every member involved in active serving, that they put aside any unbiblical attitudes, prejudices, ambitions, or practices that would distract or hinder an unbeliever or their fellow believers from experiencing the message of the Cross! We believe that the GREAT COMMISSION was not the GREAT SUGGESTION. We believe we called individually and corporately to go into all the world – we are to make disciples – teaching and baptizing – with the leading of the presence of Jesus. We believe in worshipping God in Spirit and in truth, we believe that we can enter God’s presence with thanksgiving and we accept the invitation to come boldly to the throne room of grace! Individually and corporately we come expectant to experience God’s presence! We believe in the unity of the brethren – we are part of one body – we do not tolerate gossip and slander within our fellowship as this has a detrimental effect on the local body of Christ to which God has called us. We strive to keep unity and regard love as the greatest gift of all – this is held in higher esteem than the gift of prophecy, the gift of preaching, the ability to sing, the gift of giving, etc. Jesus said they will know you are My disciples by your love for one another – we realise the effectiveness of our witness for Christ to the world is by our love, the standard for which is clearly outlined in 1 Corinthians 13. We believe in, actively practice and highly regard humility. We do not separate children from the church service because Jesus did not! Jesus used a child’s bread and fish to perform one of the greatest miracles recorded in the Bible – the feeding of 5000! We do however ask parents to teach their children to respect the presence of God, and teach them to be considerate of other worshippers. Parents do not allow your children to cause distraction in any of the services by running around the hall; consistent loud talking or screaming; playing with toys, etc. A TODDLERS AREA has been allocated for children 5 years old and under, but this area can only be used under parental supervision. Although we do not place a major emphasis (compared to many churches today) on tithes and offerings, we do believe in that every Christian has been called to financially support the mission of their local church. We believe that God will provide seed to the sower and continue to multiply your seed as you give. We do not believe that anyone should give under compulsion, or because we have manipulated you into giving. Give as you have purposed in your heart. Come prepared, give joyfully, give in faith!
