What's on my mind this morning is about Christ's Secons coming and spiritual preparation.
Title: Spiritual Preparation
In Life's Unexpected
Events.
Text: (Matthew 24:29; 25:10;
2 Peter 3:9-13)
1. THE COMING OF THE
SON OF MAN
(v.29) Immediately after the Tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, ND the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from the heaven, and the powers f even will be shaken. Then will appear in heaven the sign of the Son of Man, then al the tribe of the earth will mourn, and they will se the Son of Man coming on the cloud of heaven with power and great glory. And He will send out His angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other" (Matthew 24:29-31).
2. NO ONE KNOWS THE
DAY AND HOUR.
"But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father of only. For as were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. For of those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marrying, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and they were unaware until the flood came and swept them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. Therefore, stay awake, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming"(Matthew 24:36-40, 42).
SPIRITUAL PREPARATION:
"And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut" (Matthew 25:10).
There is no substitute for spiritual preparation. Spiritual preparation equips you for unforseen crises or opportunities. However, if you are unprepared you will be vulnerable in life's unexpected events.
Jesus told a parable that teaches this truth. Ten virgins were waiting the arrival of the bridegroom so that they could celebrate with him and his bride. Five of them prepared in advance and brought an adequate supply of oil for their lamps. The other five were not prepared, so they rushed out to buy additional lamp oil. While they were gone, the bride groom arrived. The five who had planned ahead entered the house with him, but the door was closed against the five who were not ready, they missed the celebration.
1. If you are spiritually prepared when a crisis comes, you will not have to try to develop instantly the quality of relationship with Christ that can sustain you.
2. If you suddenly have the opportunity to share your faith with an unbeliever, you will be equipped to do so.
3. If you enter a time of worship spiritually prepared, you will not miss an encounter with God.
4.If you are spiritually filled when you meet a person in sorrow, you will have much to offer.
5. If you have established safeguards in your life in advance, you will not give in to temptation.
Christians lose many opportunities to experience God's activity because they have not devoted enough time to their relationship with God.
If you have not yet developed the habit of daily prayer and Bible study, why not begin now, so that you will be equipped for whatever life brings, Unexpected life events.
May you be abundantly blessed as you meditate on this powerful sharing in Jesus's mighty name.
