Sanette and I returned safely on Wednesday, after the blessed and successful kidney transplant in Cape Town. I spoke to Andre Snyman this morning, he will be discharged tomorrow, God willing. The kidney function is what the doctors want. Andre has a follow up consultation with his nephrologists on Tuesday and will be back in Somerset towards the end of next week, God willing. Please keep on praying for us.

Sunday we celebrate communion at All Saints. Everybody, as always, are welcome to participate in this extraordinary, corporate encounter with our Lord Jesus Christ.

Prayer for Greg Brown’s recovery after been bitten by a snake yesterday. He in St Georges ICU under observation. Spoke to Fiona this morning, doctors didn’t see it necessary to administer antivenin up to now.

Theme: “I promise!” God says.

Texts:

Hebrews 6:13-20

v Promise

v Oath

v Purpose

v Hope

Gospel hope is our anchor in the storms of this world. It is sure and steadfast, or it could not keep us so.

- The free grace of God,

- the merits and mediation of Christ, and

- the powerful influences of his Spirit, are the grounds of this hope, and so it is a steadfast hope.

Christ is the object and ground of the believer's hope. Let us therefore set our affections on things above,

and wait patiently for his appearance, when we shall certainly appear with him in glory.

Exodus 3:1-17

I AM:

v the God of your ancestors [=in relation with] – Abraham, Isaac and Jacob [:6]

v I have seen - how cruelly my people are being treated [:7, 9]

v I have heard - them cry out to be rescued [:7, 9]

v I know - all about their sufferings [:7]

v I have come down - to rescue them from the Egyptians and [:8]

- to bring them out to a spacious land

v I am sending - you to the king of Egypt so that you can lead my people out of his

country. [:10]

v I will be with you - when you bring the people out of Egypt [:12]

v I am who I am … I Am; or I will be who I will be … I Will Be [:14]

Exodus 37 Then the Lord said, “I have seen how cruelly my people are being treated in Egypt; I have heard them cry out to be rescued from their slave drivers. I know all about their sufferings,
