SUNDAY TAKEOVER SERVICE | SERMON BY APOSTLE A.L MOKGOFA
Scripture: Matthew 5:10-12
When the day of the Lord is declared, we are still required to remain steadfast in our position of faith, trusting Him and looking forward to the promise He has spoken. The day of the Lord is not limited to one moment, one week, six months, or even a year. Once it has been declared, it means something has already been established in the spirit and in due time it will surely come to pass. This is why consistency, diligence, perseverance and patience are so important, for these are fruits that God honours and rewards. Joseph, Paul and Peter all endured processes before the manifestation of God’s promise in their lives. Even the salvation we received through Christ was declared thousands of years before Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary. The prophets spoke of it long before its manifestation.
Therefore, when the day of the Lord has been declared over your life, do not lose focus. The pathway to that promise may still include dry pits, trials, imprisonment and opposition, but these do not cancel the declaration of God. The Lord allows the process because He desires that when the promise manifests, we will have inherited His fullness. Our focus must remain on what the Lord has spoken not on the enemies or challenges around us. When God speaks, His words carry life and purpose. Losing focus on His promise can cause one to become discouraged and fight against the very future God has declared. Sometimes the greatest enemy is not the devil but losing faith in what God has already spoken.
There are moments when life may seem opposite to the declared promise, yet we are called to take heart because Christ has already overcome the world. True worship says, “Lord, whether You do it for me now or not I will continue to worship You.” There are also spiritual battles where the enemy seeks to delay or oppose what God has promised, and this is why believers must rise in consistent and diligent prayer using the authority God has given them. Many become discouraged because they expect God to do everything while remaining passive, yet the Lord has given His people keys of authority. Through prayer, obedience and faith, believers partner with heaven concerning what God has already declared.
The Lord has promised authority to trample upon serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy but the power behind this authority is a life of obedience. When obedience is neglected, access is given to the enemy. This authority belongs to the servants of the Lord, those who walk in His righteousness and submit to His will. It is not our own righteousness but His righteousness working through us that gives us authority and victory.
Even as you continue to read, study and meditate on the daily Bread of Life, you must remain expectant for more. This more is the proceeding Word from the mouth of the Lord, the present and living voice of God speaking in harmony with the Scriptures. When you read the Word, it becomes your daily bread but you should never allow what you have already received to limit your expectation of further encounters with God. Instead, you must position your heart and mind to hear Him continually. After reading, meditating, and praying over the Scriptures, you should still expect God to speak directly to you, bringing revelation, direction and confirmation. The voice of God never contradicts His Word, rather it brings life, understanding and deeper meaning to what He has already spoken.
In all things, believers are called to remain steadfast in righteousness and not measure their lives by the approval of people. Rejection for the sake of Christ is not a curse but a blessing before God for those who stand for His truth will often be misunderstood by the world. Therefore, do not seek acceptance through compromise or unrighteousness but remain faithful to the will of God even when it costs comfort or approval. True blessing is found in walking in righteousness, enduring with faith and remaining obedient to the Lord, knowing that His favour rests upon those who honour Him sincerely.
