THE SEVEN (7) MILE TRIP WITH JESUS - CONVICTED
Luke 24:25-29
The transforming encounter between the risen Jesus and two discouraged disciples on the road to Emmaus. The movement from confusion and failed expectations to a convicted, unwavering faith. The disciples were walking away from Jerusalem, disappointed that Jesus had not fulfilled their expectation of a political messiah.

Hope was dead because they focused on a dead Jesus rather than a risen Savior. Jesus joins them not as a guest, but as the host of their lives, leading them through a process that transforms their confusion into conviction. Conviction occurs when believers stop looking for a dead Savior and encounter the living Christ, shifting their faith from emotional experiences to the reality of the Risen Lord.

Praise is not reserved for good moments only—it belongs in every moment. When you choose to praise God in the middle of the day, you interrupt worry, silence fear, and invite His presence into your situation. Keep praise in your mouth and watch how heaviness lifts and strength rises.

“I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.” — Psalm 34:1

A SEVEN MILE JOURNEY WITH JESUS-CONFUSED!!

Taking a trip with Jesus but confused based on the narrative of the disciples on the Road to Emmaus (Luke 24), the text highlights that being with Jesus does not instantly eliminate confusion. That is the journey of believers who walk with Christ but struggle with confusion, disappointment, and lack of understanding regarding their faith.

The disciples were walking away from Jerusalem, disappointed because Jesus did not fulfil their expectation of a political messiah who would liberate them from Rome. Many believers have the "heart" of Christianity (they love Jesus) but lack intellectual understanding (they do not grasp the scriptures or the spiritual nature of Christ's kingdom).

Even while confused, the disciples were still talking about Jesus and walking with Him. Believers can be in a state of confusion while still trying to know God better. It is possible to feel God’s presence and still not know Christ as Savior. Christianity involves knowing Jesus personally, not just memorizing verses or having spiritual experiences.

Confusion is often a temporary state in a believer’s journey, and it serves as an opportunity for Jesus to reveal himself deeper through the Scriptures and turn confusion into conviction.

HE IS RISEN INDEED!

Then He said to Thomas, “Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach your hand here, and put it into My side. Do not be unbelieving, but believing.” — John 20:27

Christ is Risen! He is risen indeed! The virgin birth and the resurrection are two of the most contended facts about Jesus. The two are however among the fundamental pillars on which our faith rests. The empty tomb, the broken Roman seal, the folded grave clothes and the absence of the guards, all confirmed the reality of the resurrection. However, Thomas helped to establish the physical reality. Jesus had a bodily resurrection.

His death was not a metaphor or a symbolic representation of a spiritual truth. His body was seen and touched.

Surely He has BORNE OUR GRIEFS and CARRIED OUR SORROWS; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was WOUNDED FOR OUR TRANSGRESSIONS, He was BRUISED FOR OUR INIQUITIES; The CHASTISEMENT FOR OUR PEACE WAS UPON HIM, And BY HIS STRIPES WE ARE HEALED. Isaiah 53:4–5

Jesus,

I grieve that the torture and sorrow You endured on the cross were necessary to save humanity. You didn’t want us enslaved to the lies of fear, anxiety, or sin—so You sacrificed Yourself so that Truth could win.

“It is finished” was a cry of victory, because You defeated everything that held us in captivity.

Because of Your sacrifice, I can experience new life. Thank You!

Show me how to stay rooted in Your Truth, and use me to reach the world You died to set free.

Amen.
