“Time and Eternity”
How shall we “Take Time” today?
*Take time to love and be loved, it is the privilege of redeemed people.*
“See what love the Father has given us; that we should be called children of God; and that is what we are. The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know the (Father). Beloved, we are God’s children now; what we will be, has not yet been revealed. What we do know is this: when (God) is revealed, we will be like (God), for we will see (God) as he is. And all who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.” (1Jn 3:1-3)
This is our great and foundational hope for ourselves and for all God’s loves-ones.
“No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” (Jn 15:13)
*Take time to look around, it is too short a day to be selfish.*
“Consider the ravens: they neither sow nor reap, they have neither storehouse nor barn, and yet God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds! And can any of you by worrying add a single hour to your span of life? If then you are not able to do so small a thing as that, why do you worry about the rest? Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not clothed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will he clothe you—you of little faith!” (Luke 12:24-28)
God is a loving Father: look around you at creation and consider its beauty and the needs of others.
“(Jesus) sat down opposite the treasury, and watched the crowd putting money into the treasury. Many rich people put in large sums. A poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which are worth a penny. Then he called his disciples and said to them, ‘Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the treasury. For all of them have contributed out of their abundance; but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on.’” (Mk 12:41-44)
The sincere devotion of the poor widow stands in sharp contrast to the sham righteousness of the scribes and Jesus notices this. It is not what we give but the heart with which we give it that matters.
“Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.” (Matt 25:41)
As the Communion of Saints (members of God’s family) let us continue to pray with and for one another remembering especially those of us in eternity moving closer to the fullness of the Trinity.
