Randburg Baptist Church

Randburg Baptist Church We’re a local church family committed to:
- Grounded in truth - Growing together - Gospel driven - Glorifying Christ Counseling with the pastors is available.

Grounded in Truth

We believe in the Scriptures of the Old Testament and New Testament as being fully inspired of God, inerrant in very part, carrying the full weight of God’s authority and totally sufficient for life and godliness. Our church is thus committed to a high view of God’s Word, and we submit to what God has said in every area of life and ministry. Our worship involves the reading, pra

ying, singing and preaching of God’s Word. We also demonstrate the gospel message through the Lord’s Supper and baptism of believers. We encourage expository preaching in our pulpit—preaching that seeks to identify what God’s original message was, and then clearly apply that to our lives today in a way that is understandable and relevant. Our approach is thoroughly biblical, using God's Word to both identify the core issues, and encourage godly resolution. Various small groups and seminars are held to ground our members in God’s eternal truth, and help them apply that daily. Growing Together

"Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love." (Ephesians 4:15-16, ESV)

We believe that God’s intention for each Christian is to become mature in Christ, and that local church ministry assists this growth. A variety of different ministries exist to promote growth and Christlikeness. We believe very much in the need for godly relationships, and encourage both formal and informal interaction between our people, particularly across the generations. Glorifying Christ

"...so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ." (2 Thessalonians 1:12, ESV)

The goal of all things is to bring glory to God. The church exists to bring God glory, and so we are committed to that because Christ is infinite worthy of that. Our lives, ministries and acts of service should be motivated by the supreme desire to see Christ put on display. Our missions is fuelled by the need to see Christ’s glory acknowledged by all who live in a lost world. Our worship services are designed to be crosscentered, gospel-saturated and Christ-exalting.

What right do you have to do this?

What right do you have to say that?

What right do you have to be here?

One needs authority to do certain things…

~ A CityPower official with badge and letter and credentials can access your property to check metre, and can turn power off.
~ A security guard has the right to stop you at Montecasino and do a body search and pat down and check bags.
~ A manager or CEO has the right and authority to make sweeping changes and restructure and change systems and processes.

But if someone were to just arrive, and throw their weight around, and start making changes and undoing systems and introducing new processes, one might question, “What right do you have to do this?”

If they were found to have no authority, they would be discredited, humbled, embarrassed and thrown out.

But if it emerges that the person has a role, has credentials, has a designation and a ID card and holds a valid position, then there would be instant respect, apologies, submission and a falling into line.

Our next lesson from the _Gospel of John_ (John 2:13-22) shows us that in action, in a very real way!

The outcomes might stagger you!

Join us on Sunday 7th June as we continue in the Gospel of John, and continue to engage on the rich truths about Jesus Christ which are contained therein.

If you are from out-of-town, and just passing through and looking for a church to hook up with, please know that our doors are open, and we’d love to connect with you.

A Pretoria teacher was scammed out of R2.4 million by a dating app con artist. The perpetrator used advanced voice-enhancement software to mimic ancestors, giving the victim manipulative financial instructions from the supposed spiritual realm.

In March 2026, three suspects were arrested in Cape Town for swindling a woman in her 70s out of R14 million over a two-year period using a fake online romance profile.

We know about scams, where seemingly authentic, and convincing people produce a good story, and suck people in. That leads to a healthy scepticism – we need to be wary!

We need to be wary in the spiritual space too, and scammer and spiritual con artists abound in the church. Even more concerning is those who purport to be Christ:

“And Jesus answered them, “See that no one leads you astray. For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and they will lead many astray.” (Matthew 24:4–5, ESV)

But we dare not miss the fact that there is a real Jesus, who is not a scam. Other religions will deceive and reduce Him to a good man, a prophet, a helpful teacher. But with no hint of a scam, He is real – He is King – He is Saviour – He is God. And only by believing that, are we to be saved and will we receive life!

That’s what we see and learn in our next passage on Sunday as we come to John 1:43-51.

Join us on Sunday 24th May as we continue in the Gospel of John, and continue to engage on the rich truths about Jesus Christ which are contained therein.

In his 1971 rock opera, “Jesus Christ Superstar,” Andrew Lloyd Webber put words in the mouth of Mary Magdalene, as she supposedly considered her infatuation with Jesus...

I don't know how to love him
He's a man. He's just a man.

Apart from the real issues with those lyrics, and Lloyd Webber’s musical, millions of people live thinking that same lie – that Jesus Christ is just a man.

But Jesus is not just a man!

John the Baptist, as an eye-witness of Jesus, provides us with some incontrovertible proofs.

John 1:29–34 (ESV)
29 The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! 30 This is he of whom I said, ‘After me comes a man who ranks before me, because he was before me.’ 31 I myself did not know him, but for this purpose I came baptizing with water, that he might be revealed to Israel.” 32 And John bore witness: “I saw the Spirit descend from heaven like a dove, and it remained on him. 33 I myself did not know him, but he who sent me to baptize with water said to me, ‘He on whom you see the Spirit descend and remain, this is he who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’ 34 And I have seen and have borne witness that this is the Son of God.”

Join us on Sunday 10th May as we return to the Gospel of John, and continue to engage on the rich truths about Jesus Christ which are contained therein.

I’m quite sure that you have been “accosted” by someone, offering you something… like the gents aggressively trying to sell fresh snoek and hake out of the cooler boxes and bakkie opposite the Spar in Blairgowrie!

You hand gets raised, and the words, “Not interested!” come across your lips!

But what if it was important, critical, life-changing, or even life-saving? Someone brings you info or an offer or advice that is deeply significant, but what they say offends you and gets your back up, and so you reject the info (and the person_ out of hand.

What then?

That’s what we see as we delve deeper into the ministry of John the Baptist, as he came as a forerunner to Jesus Christ.

Join us on Sunday as we consider that from John 1:19-28.

If you are from out-of-town, and just passing through and looking for a church to hook up with, please know that our doors are open, and we’d love to connect with you.

Good morning to the Randburg Baptist Church family!

The traditional greeting on resurrection Sunday morning still holds true today!

He is risen!
He is risen indeed!

That’s our joy and hope today!

Join us at 9am as we celebrate the fact that Christ died, was buried and then rose again on the 3rd day! He is the victor!

Many, many years ago, Baptist Youth of SA had the WOW (Win Our World) youth teams that toured SA for a year for ministry. School leavers would join a WOW team for a year – either north or south. They has a repertoire of dramas and songs. The team in circa 1988 or 1989 did a stunning musical entitled, “Jesus Shall Reign.” It concluded with the magnificent “Hallelujah Chorus” from Handel’s “Messiah.”

But just before that, as this musical tracked through Christ’s life, came the song “Arise.” Craig Duval, whom is now a Baptist pastor (Pineland , CT I think), was the male lead vocal. Our Randburg Baptist Church auditorium was used for either a Commissioning Service or Final Rally that year, and Craig’s powerful vocals carried the great truths that He is indeed alive and arisen from the grave. I can’t find a track, but share the lyrics this morning…

The clouds had not yet lifted
The tomb was sealed and dark
The cruel cross had crucified
The hope of every heart
The Son of God, the Lord of life
By death had been destroyed
Then in the silence of the tomb
He heard His Father's voice:

Arise, arise
First Star of the morning skies!
Come forth, my Anointed One
Into eternal life
Arise, arise
Cast away death's dark disguise!
My glorious Son, Victorious One
In majesty, arise!

The earth began to tremble
The ground began to quake
The mighty stone that sealed the tomb
Of death began to shake
Then suddenly the darkness
Was shattered by His light
As Jesus Christ, the Son of God
Burst through the doors of life!

Arise, arise
First Star of the morning skies!
Come forth, my Anointed One
Into eternal life
Arise, arise
Cast away death's dark disguise!
My glorious Son, Victorious One
In majesty, arise!

Arise, arise
First Star of the morning skies!
Come forth, my Anointed One
Into eternal life
Arise, arise
Cast away death's dark disguise!
My glorious Son, Victorious One
In majesty, arise
Arise, arise!
Arise!

Only one person has truly understood the words that Christ said on the cross: "Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?", that is, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" (Matt. 27:46). That person was Christ himself. The rest of us are left to try our best in comprehending this heaven-rending,…

Courtroom dramas on TV have nothing on the drama which has unfolded in the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry. We’ve seen ducking and diving witnesses facing a panel of highly qualified and competent Commissioners, as the skilled Evidence Leaders poke and prod into the stories and statements. Some witnesses are credible, but some have shown that Pinocchio is their 2nd cousin.

Reliable and trustworthy witnesses are needed to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. They verify facts, corroborate events, and assist in determining the veracity of issues.

Well, the Gospel of John gives us quite a few “witness” accounts, and John the Baptist serves as just one of the witnesses who gives testimony about the truths of Jesus Christ.

Join us on Sunday at 9am as we dive back into the depths of John 1, and start to see how John the Baptist affirms the truths and glories of Christ!

7 day free trial!

Have you ever been offered a free trial for some gym sessions, with a view to maybe signing up at the end? Or manicures? Or timeshare?

Something is offered to give you a taste of a product or service, but you only get the full benefits of the product or service later. These samples whet our appetite, and create need, but leave us unsatisfied, wanting more.

As we come to the next verses in John 1 on Sunday 22nd March, that is what we see here. John reminds us of God’s grace in the giving of the Law (which cannot save from sin), but then points us to the glorious fulfilment in the One who alone can save from sin.

_“For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God; God the only Son, who is at the Father’s side, he has made him known.”_ (John 1:16–18, ESV)

Join us on Sunday at 9am as we dive back into the depths of John 1, and probe some crucial application for our own lives.

If you are from out-of-town, and just passing through and looking for a church to hook up with, please know that our doors are open, and we’d love to connect with you.
