✨BIBLE STUDY | HOW FAR ARE YOU WILLING TO GO FOR GOD✨

The idea behind this Bible study came from a simple conversation.

The Bible study lead was ease-dropping on two ladies speaking about an event. One was ready to go, while the other wasn’t quite ready and was willing to go to great lengths to make sure she was ready for the event.

So the question is: How far are we willing to go for something we really want?

And then the question became deeper:

How far are we willing to go for God?

The Bible gives us many examples of people who were willing to go beyond their comfort zones because of their faith.

📖 Abraham

Abraham and Sarah waited many years for a child, and eventually God blessed them with Isaac.

But when Isaac had grown, God tested Abraham by asking him to leave his home and everything that was familiar to him. Abraham had to step out of his comfort zone and trust God's direction.

Then came an even greater test: God instructed Abraham to sacrifice the very son He had promised and given him.

Imagine being asked to surrender the very thing you had waited so long for.

Yet Abraham was willing to obey because his faith in God was greater than his fear of losing what he loved.

At the last moment, God stopped him and provided another sacrifice.

Abraham's story reminds us that faith sometimes requires us to surrender even the things that are most precious to us and trust that God knows what He is doing.

📖 Paul

Paul's story is very different.

Before he became the apostle Paul, he was Saul, a Pharisee who fiercely persecuted the early Christians. He was completely opposed to the followers of Christ.

But on the road to Damascus, Paul encountered God. That encounter changed the direction of his life.

His conversion came with a new purpose: to preach the Gospel and build the Church.

And that calling was not easy.

Paul endured beatings, imprisonment, persecution, rejection and suffering because of his faith.

In 2 Corinthians 11:24–27, Paul speaks about the suffering he endured for the sake of the Gospel.

Yet he continued.

He kept preaching.

He kept serving.

He kept going.

His circumstances did not stop him from pursuing what God had called him to do.

🙏🏽 SO, WHAT ABOUT US?

We may not experience the same circumstances as Abraham or Paul, but we all face our own challenges.

We face disappointment.
We face uncertainty.
We face fear.
We face rejection.
We face moments where following God is uncomfortable and difficult.

And sometimes God will call us out of our comfort zone.

The question is not whether the journey will always be easy.

The question is:

When it becomes difficult, how far are we willing to go for God?

Are we willing to persevere?

Are we willing to keep trying?

Are we willing to trust God when we don't understand what He is doing?

Are we willing to surrender what is comfortable for the sake of His will?

God needs to be at the centre of our minds, our hearts and our actions.

Whatever we do, wherever we are, and whatever our circumstances may be, we should do it for God.

And we should not keep saying, “I’ll do it one day.”

Start now.

Serve now.
Pray now.
Share the Gospel now.
Use your gifts now.
Step out in faith now.

Because sometimes the greatest expression of our faith is simply being willing to take the next step, even when that step takes us outside of our comfort zone.

So, how far are you willing to go for God? ❤️‍🔥

This past Saturday, we gathered for our Youth Service/Umanyano and reflected on Judges 9:22–25 & 50–57 under the theme:

🌱 “You Reap What You Sow” — Every Action Has Consequences.

The story of Abimelech reminds us that our choices and actions have consequences. As young people, may we be intentional about what we sow through our words, actions and decisions.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for a blessed time of worship, fellowship and reflection. 🕯️💜

🕯️💜 Women’s Day | 9 August

Today, we honour the women of South Africa who stood together and marched against the oppressive laws, courageously demanding dignity, freedom and justice for generations to come.

Yet, decades later, many women continue to face oppression in different forms, through socio-economic challenges, patriarchy, inequality, gender-based violence and abuse.
Today, as the Anglican Youth Fellowship, we pause to pray for the women of our country, the women in our Church, our mothers, sisters, daughters, friends and the women in our homes.

🙏🏽 We pray for their protection and safety.
🙏🏽 We pray for strength in the face of adversity.
🙏🏽 We pray for healing for those who have experienced abuse and injustice.
🙏🏽 We pray for opportunities, dignity and economic empowerment.
🙏🏽 We pray for a society where women are valued, respected and treated with dignity.

And above all, we give thanks to God for the women who continue to nurture, serve, lead, encourage, love and strengthen our families, communities and Church.

May we never take their presence and sacrifices for granted. May we honour women not only today, but every day.

“Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come.” — Proverbs 31:25
