URCSA Melodi ya Skuilkrans Calls for Swift Justice for Sister Bertha Moiloa

The Uniting Reformed Church in Southern Africa (URCSA) Melodi ya Skuilkrans Congregation in Silverton is deeply concerned about the pace at which the South African Police Service (SAPS) is handling the investigation into the tragic murder of our beloved member, Sister Bertha Moiloa, who was killed in late November 2024.

Sister Bertha was a devoted member of our congregation and a loving mother, leaving behind two young children who now face a future without her care and guidance. As a church, we stand firmly in support of her family and call upon law enforcement authorities to act with urgency in ensuring that those responsible for this heinous crime are brought to justice.

The Bible teaches us in Psalm 34:18, "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." In times of sorrow, we are reminded of our duty to stand with the grieving and seek justice for the oppressed. Additionally, Isaiah 1:17 urges us to "Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow."

As a congregation, we reaffirm our commitment to being a voice for justice and comfort for those in pain. We urge the SAPS to expedite their investigation so that Sister Bertha's family, especially her children, can find closure. Justice delayed is justice denied.

May her soul rest in peace, and may truth and justice prevail.
