What causes disappointment is expecting a certain reaction from someone yet they are not aware of how you want them to react. After dressing up so nice to work/church and you expect people/someone to comment and then they don't. You end up getting mad/disappointed at them. What if they had something bad going on with them that commenting your dressing would be the last thing on their mind? What if they thought you would feel uncomfortable hearing a comment from them? What if they really wanted to comment but they were just waiting for the perfect moment to say it and eventually it slipped off their minds. It is better to ask someone how you look if they don't say something but you really want to hear their comment. In this life people are too busy with their lives to the extent that what you feel is easy to notice might be the least on their list. Do not be too expectant of people and never give people a benchmark of how they should react to certain situations. People are different and they view and do things differently. If you feel you look nice, or you have made a great achievement etc that needs applauding just clap for yourself and don't think much about how other people see/view it. Seeking too much approval and too much applauding is a recipe for disappointment.
