Ash Wednesday & Lenten Season Welcome
By Rev. Makhopa

Grace and peace to you all in the name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Beloved congregation, today we gather on this sacred day of Ash Wednesday, marking the beginning of the holy Lenten season—a solemn yet hope-filled journey of forty days. This is a season that calls us into deeper reflection, repentance, prayer, and renewal.

As we receive the ashes, we are reminded of our humanity: “From dust you came, and to dust you shall return.” Yet this reminder is not one of despair, but of grace. It invites us to turn our hearts back to God, to seek His mercy, and to realign our lives with His will.

Lent is a spiritual pilgrimage—one that encourages fasting, self-examination, sacrificial love, and intentional discipleship. It is a time to lay aside burdens, forgive freely, give generously, and walk more closely with Christ as we journey toward the cross and ultimately the victory of Easter morning.

I warmly welcome each of you to this Ash Wednesday service and to the Lenten journey ahead. May this season be one of transformation—where our faith is strengthened, our hearts are softened, and our lives bear the fruit of God’s redeeming love.

Let us walk this road together in humility, prayer, and hope.

Dear Beloved Congregation,

Grace and peace to you.

You are warmly invited to join us for our Ash Wednesday Service on Wednesday, 18 February 2026 at 19:00.

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the Lenten season—a sacred time of reflection, repentance, prayer, and renewed commitment to God. During this service, we will gather in worship, receive the imposition of ashes, and intentionally enter this holy season together as a faith community.

We encourage all members and families to attend as we begin this spiritual journey toward Easter with humility and hope.

We look forward to sharing this meaningful evening with you.

Grace and blessings
Rev Makhopa

Dear Saints in Christ,

You are warmly invited to our Children’s Covenant Service taking place on Sunday, 15 February at 9:00 AM at St George’s Methodist Church.

In John 21:15, Jesus instructs Peter, “Feed my lambs.” In obedience to this call, this special service will focus intentionally on our children — nurturing their faith, affirming their place in the life of the Church, and renewing our collective commitment to guide them in Christ’s love and truth.

This service is dedicated to children and their families. We encourage all parents, guardians, teachers, and leaders to attend as we covenant together to support and spiritually nourish the young ones entrusted to us.

We look forward to sharing this meaningful time of worship and dedication with you. Bring along as many little saints as possible !

Grace and peace,
Rev Makhopa
