I am not a sinner. Only bad people like murderers and thieves need Jesus to forgive them.
Before I became a Christian I thought I was basically a good person. I hadn’t killed anyone, or hurt any one physically, however the moment I invited Jesus Christ to come into my heart to be my Lord and Saviour, I realized just how sinful I was as a person. Most of the worst sins that we actually commit are those attitudes of the heart, such as jealousy, envy, bitterness, deceitfulness, half-truths and unforgiveness.
As a Christian, I know how even now I have attitudes which I am not proud of, and which God is still working on in my life. None of us will ever be perfected until we get our new glorified bodies in heaven, where there will be no more tears. The bible says that we all sin and fall short of the glory of God and that there is no one righteous, no not even one. Every time we have failed to honour our parents we have sinned, and every time we have lied we have sinned, even those white lies to save us from getting into trouble. Even stealing a candy bar as a kid is a sin.
Every one who has not invited Jesus Christ into their heart to be their Lord and Saviour has a record in heaven of every single sin that they have ever committed. All of us at some time in our lives must turn away from our sinful ways and turn to God and ask Him to forgive us of our sins. The bible says that all those who call upon the name of the Lord Jesus will be saved. Jesus said I am the way, the truth and the life, and no one comes to the Father except through Me, and the bible says how it is by God’s grace that we are saved, not of our own good works, lest any man boast
What the bible clearly reveals is that every person has the same opportunity to have a place in heaven, and this place is not dependant on how good we think we are, but on us humbling ourselves before God and acknowledging our sinful nature and receiving the gift of salvation by asking Jesus Christ into our hearts and lives to be our Lord and Saviour.
