Welcoming the New Year with prayer – day 4

“ONE SHOULD NEVER INITIATE ANYTHING THAT HE CANNOT SATURATE WITH PRAYER”

Ephesians 6:18
“Praying with all prayer at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication, to that end keeps with all perseverance.”

Prayer is the easiest of all Christian practices to do, but the hardest to master. Why? The enemy knows that when Christians get a spirit of prayer, mountains move, the kingdom of darkness suffers huge defeat, and the Kingdom of God advances in leaps and bounds. There is huge opposition from the enemy and with the flesh to pray. The greatest revivals, healings and miracles have all come about because of a praying church and an individual who were willing to sacrifice time, put in the effort and press through in prayer.

"God does nothing except in response to believing prayer." John Wesley (Famous evangelist who spent 2 hours daily in prayer).

It is often said that the prayer meeting is the Cinderella of the Church – the most ill attended. But can you imagine if it was the most well supported what release of power and momentum we would see. Paul Yangi Cho, the Pastor of one the world’s largest church in Korea, when asked by some American delegates what is the key to the growth of the Church, instead of receiving an amazing revelation of Church administration, he simply said; “Prayer”. His Church and individuals caught the spirit of prayer. All over the world it is the same. When Churches as a whole and individuals catch hold of prayer, the Heavens open.
Amen

Welcoming the New Year with prayer – day 3

Proverbs 21:4 (ESV)
“Haughty eyes and a proud heart, the lamp of the wicked, are sin.”
Proverbs 28:25 (KJV)
“He that is of a proud heart stirreth up strife: but he that putteth his trust in the LORD shall be made fat.”

Lord, may unity be my motto and love for others be my utmost desire in this New Year. Lord, I pray never to be too proud to feel that I am closer to You than any other. Help me understand that You look truly at my heart. You know exactly what I am thinking and doing and I would be judged accordingly in measure of my faith. Help me to always remember that You are closer to those who need You more than the ones who are proud and conceited of Your inheritance. In this New Year, may all I do bring You great glory. As I decrease in fame and vain glory, may You increase in all praise and honour and glory. May my efforts be to sincerely bring many to know You and to believe in the Lord Jesus, the way, the truth, and the life. May the lost be found, the ones living in darkness come to light through my intercession, outreach, guidance and my prayers.

I pray this New Year 2022 is blessed with Your presence in all I do, as I pray and ask, in the blessed Name of Jesus,
Amen

Welcoming the New Year with prayer – day 2

*Philippians 2:1-3*
“So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves”

Lord, remind me of my truest values and my deepest desires. Help me to live in the goodness that comes from doing what You want me to do. Help me to put aside anxiety about the future and regret of the past, so that I might live in peace with You, one day at a time. Lord, help me to abide by Your words and keep my focus on You. May I be obedient to Your ways and Your will in my life. By this I know You will be with me in all my joys and pain, till the end of time. May my focus be on love, peace and unity within my families and friends, and foster this peace and unity too with my Christian brethren. May I be guided by Your Holy Spirit as I read Your Word and practice the principles of it in my life. As I could be different from others, may I always learn to look at my own failings and the depth of my faith before I rebuke another of their faith in You. May I be slow to anger and condemnation but be swift to respond in love, peace and forgiveness.

I pray this New Year 2022 is blessed with Your presence in all I do, as I pray and ask, in the blessed Name of Jesus,
Amen

Welcoming the New Year with prayer – day 1

Matthew 28:20
“And teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Almighty Father, I thank You graciously for a New Year. I ask You, Lord, to bless me and my families, as we begin this blessed year with a renewed hope in You. Lord, I thank You so much for all that You have done for me and my families. Your hand on our lives is so much more than we could ask for. Your blessings are so greatly appreciated. In the past year, You have seen my challenges, been saddened by my weaknesses, and rejoiced in my successes. As this New Year commences, let me remember the past year. In so doing, I truly repent of all that has hindered me from abiding in You. Forgive me, for the promises and resolutions I made and never fulfilled. Forgive me, for the times I neglected prayer and Your word as my focus. Let me recall the things that hindered me from getting closer to You and keeping Your Word. May I come to realize my mistakes and shortcomings. Help me Lord, to be willing to forgive myself and to forgive others.

I pray this New Year 2022 is blessed with Your presence in all I do, as I pray and ask, in the blessed Name of Jesus,
Amen

Why doesn’t God tell you why?
BY RICK WARREN

*Psalm 37:7* (GW)
“Surrender yourself to the LORD, and wait patiently for Him."

One reason people struggle with contentment is because they are always looking for explanations for why things happen in their lives. But God does not tell them why most things happen, and that can frustrate them.
Sometimes God does not tell you why because He is testing you. He wants to see if you will let go of control and learn to be ķm
Ç happens in your life.
God does not owe you an explanation for anything. You are not going to know why most things happen until you get to Heaven.
When God is silent in your life—when you do not hear Him, and He feels like He is a million miles away—that is a test!
The teacher is always silent when the students take a test—but the teacher is still present with the students. When God is silent in your life, your faith is being tested—but God is still with you. In that test, will you let go of control, or will you grab on more tightly? Will you learn to be content?
The Bible says, “Surrender yourself to the Lord, and wait patiently for Him” (*Psalm 37:7* GW).
When you go through pain next week or next month or this year, you do not really need God’s explanation. You need God’s presence. Let go of control and surrender yourself to Him.
In Jesus Name,
Amen

Isaiah 42:3 "He would never crush a broken heart nor disregard the weak and vulnerable.
He will make sure justice comes to those who are wronged."

Jesus will not kick us when we are down.
He never rolls His eyes or belittles the things that have pained us.
Repeatedly, our Compassionate Saviour kneels close and draws us to His side when we are weary.
So tender and kind, He isn't ashamed to acquaint Himself with our weaknesses.
He even went as far as being tempted in the same ways as we are so that He could relate to us in every aspect.

His Mercy and Grace abound in our times of great opposition.
Not only does He know how to comfort, but He is also willing and able to strengthen.
To heal our brokenness and kiss our wounds with healing Love.
When our whispers of faith fall silent, and all we can do is close our eyes and breathe, Jesus knows exactly what to do to infuse our weary bones with life.

Father, I need something no one else can give but You.
Release Your Grace over my life.
Heal me.
Strengthen me in ways that only You can.
Teach me and train me so that with each confrontation of discouragement, I will become more confident in Your Love.
Amen

What does it mean to throw away your life?
BY RICK WARREN

Romans 6:13 (GNT)
“Give yourselves to God . . . and surrender your whole being to him to be used for righteous purposes."
God wants you to learn to be a giver, not a taker. He wants you to surrender to Jesus by laying down every area of your life.
¹⁰Jesus said, “If you insist on saving your life, you will lose it. Only those who throw away their lives for My sake and for the sake of the Good News will ever know what it means to really live” (Mark 8:35 TLB).
Notice the phrase “only those who throw away their lives.” What does it mean to throw away your life? It means you submit yourself to God for his purposes.
Romans 6:13 says, “Give yourselves to God . . . and surrender your whole being to Him to be used for righteous purposes'' (GNT). When you give yourself to God and let Him use you, life becomes an adventure. That’s when you really start to live!
When you say, “Okay God, I’m not going to live for me anymore. Instead, I am going to live for You and for other people. I am going to learn to lay down my life and my plans,” God will provide for all of your needs. The Bible says, “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need” (Matthew 6:33 NLT).
How do you make the Kingdom of God your primary concern? You care about the things God cares about. God does not care about money and fame. He does not care about a lot of the things we care about. He cares most about people.
Surrender your life to God. Build your life around the things that are most important to him. He’ll make sure you have all you need, and you’ll find true purpose in life.
Amen

*Evangelism is a divine responsibility – day 6*

Ezekiel 3:17–19
“Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the people of Israel; so hear the word I speak and give them warning from Me. When I say to a wicked person, ‘You will surely die,’ and you do not warn them or speak out to dissuade them from their evil ways in order to save their life, that wicked person will die for their sin, and I will hold you accountable for their blood. But if you do warn the wicked person and they do not turn from their wickedness or from their evil ways, they will die for their sin; but you will have saved yourself"

In this passage, God gives the prophet Ezekiel the task of being a "watchman" for Judah. The main point of this commission is that Ezekiel would deliver God's message and warnings faithfully. A sobering element of this calling is the knowledge that when Ezekiel neglects to share the Lord's warning for Judah's wickedness, he will share in the responsibility. This passage should shake us, Christ's followers, out of our slumber. We, too, are watchmen of sorts. We have a message of salvation to deliver, and some responsibility lies on the messenger who neglects to give the message.

PRAYER:
Father, I accept my responsibility to be a watchman, help me to warn those who live in darkness.
In Jesus Name,
Amen

*Evangelism points to our only source of salvation – day 5*

Isaiah 45:22
"Turn to Me and be saved, all you ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other"

In the 45th chapter of Isaiah, God turns His focus on Israel's surrounding nations who fashion idols to worship. Instead of worshipping idols they can carry with their hands, God encourages these nations to turn to Him, a God who can carry them in His hands. This is an appropriate reminder to all of us who follow the Lord. There is still only one God and one salvation. There is no other. As awkward as it feels to speak this truth in a pluralistic and tolerant world, it is absolutely true.

PRAYER:
Father, you are the only God!
Amen

*Evangelism is simply telling what God has done – day 4*

Isaiah 12:4
"In that day you will say: "Give praise to the Lord, proclaim His Name; make known among the nations what He has done, and proclaim that His Name is exalted"

Much of the Book of Isaiah operates as a twofold prophecy. It has immediate import as a prophecy about Judah, but also points at the coming Messiah who will deliver Israel—and subsequently all humanity. Here Isaiah speaks of an evangelism that works in both timelines. Judah will be able to proclaim what the Lord has done to deliver the nation from its sin, and God's future people will be able to exalt God’s Name for what He has done for mankind.

PRAYER:
Father, it is your will that no one should perish, help me to be an instrument of your calling.
In Jesus Name,
Amen

*Evangelism is about your willingness to go and reach out with the gospel – day 3*

Isaiah 6:8
“Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?"
And I said, "Here am I. Send me!"

God never pressurises you to serve Him, but He continually offers you a choice. The sixth chapter of Isaiah tells of the prophet having a vision of the Lord in His throne room. This sobering vision helped propel him to volunteer to share the Lord's message. You, too, are motivated in direct proportion to your experience with God. If you struggle to find the inspiration to share the good news, perhaps it is time to pray for a deeper revelation of God's glory and holiness.

PRAYER:
Father, help me to live a Holy life, to share my testimony with others.
In Jesus Name,
Amen

*Evangelism is wise work – day 2*

Proverbs 11:30
“The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life and the one who is wise saves lives.”

When this Proverb was written, the idea of "saving lives" had more to do with delivering them from evil paths which lead to death. In light of the gospel story, it takes on a whole new significance. When considered within the context of Christ's work, the fruit of the righteous is quite literally a tree of life and the work of saving lives. Have you considered to help in this great calling, to save a person from eternal hell?

PRAYER:
Father, I want to be called wise, help me to speak boldly about Jesus.
Amen
