Day 7 of 8 - Prayer and Fasting

Scripture focus: Exodus‬ ‭34‬:‭28‬ ‭ESV‬‬

”So he was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights. He neither ate bread nor drank water. And he wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments.“

It was during fasting and prayer that Moses received the Ten Commandments from the Lord on the mountain.

There are significant revelations that God brings to us in time of seeking Him diligently

Day 6 of 8 - Prayer and Fasting

Chapter to read: Daniel 1

Scripture focus: Daniel‬ ‭1‬:‭11‬-‭16‬ ‭ESV‬‬

“Then Daniel said to the steward whom the chief of the eunuchs had assigned over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, “Test your servants for ten days; let us be given vegetables to eat and water to drink. Then let our appearance and the appearance of the youths who eat the king’s food be observed by you, and deal with your servants according to what you see.” So he listened to them in this matter, and tested them for ten days. At the end of ten days it was seen that they were better in appearance and fatter in flesh than all the youths who ate the king’s food. So the steward took away their food and the wine they were to drink, and gave them vegetables.“

Fasting gives us spiritual strength and also has many bodily advantages

As we continue with the spiritual discipline, watch how light your spirit becomes and may even start to hear God clearer than before

Day 4 of 8 - Prayer and Fasting

Chapter to read: Hebrews 11

Scripture focus: ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭16‬-‭18‬ ‭ESV‬‬

”And when you fast, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces that their fasting may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, that your fasting may not be seen by others but by your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.“

Fasting is actually between yourself and God, it’s a sacrifice which will be rewarded by God presence.

It should not a pain or a burden, which could make your fasting in vain. The reward of our seeking after God is that we will find Him and His presence is Heaven.

Day 3 of 8 - Prayer and Fasting

Chapter to read: Habakkuk 3

Scripture focus: James‬ ‭4‬:‭8‬ ‭ESV‬‬

”Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.“

Drawing near to someone happens where there is an interest in someone. Either wanting something from someone, wanting to be there for someone or wanting to really get to know someone because of something you saw in them.

God is always willing to draw near to us, and it was demonstrated when He sent Hs Son to redeem us.

It is when we draw near to Him that the magic happens and the next thing we find ourselves immersed in the Shekinah Glory of God. It’s when deep starts calling unto deep, and from the depth we get a response.

Don’t underestimate the time spent in sincerely seeking after God and drawing near to Him.
